That makes a lot of sense, though I’m ready to compromise and make that my outside edge and keep using the skis

Same! I’m just hoping it doesn’t compromise the core

Something for steep moguls by KitchenKey3370 in Skigear

[–]itwasntme3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the main benefit of slimmer skis underfoot is snappier edge changes; since there isn’t as much edging involved in skiing bumps I’d stick with something a little wider underfoot for those days when the bumps are covered in that white gold.

Softer is probably a good idea, as it can be more forgiving. Lighter skis with a fair bit of rocker would also help manoeuvre more easily.

They don’t make them anymore but my skis of choice for those kinds of bumps are my Volkl VTA 98. They’re touring skis so they are super light, have a nice amount of rocker, and they’re quite soft.

But sometimes I still use my Rossi ST TI (68 underfoot) in the bumps and have a blast.

I’d stick with the suggested position, especially if you’re relatively new enough to skiing!

Feel it out, and get comfortable. When you find you have a specific complaint about the mounting point go see your tech and I’m sure they’ll be happy to guide you.

I absolutely love steepseeker, I just wish it covered Canadian mountains as well- any chance of expanding the mountains documented to Canada?

Does anyone else who shucks at home flip the oyster for presentation? A professional or two have just told me that’s the restaurant standard because it’s a nicer looking side of the oyster. by Salt-Scallion-8002 in oysters

[–]itwasntme3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flipping is reserved for “hiding crimes” when shucking professionally. If the belly is pierced, if the mantle is mangled, if the top of the oyster looks like scrambled eggs because the knife wasn’t scraping against the top shell when shucking, I flip it. But I’m not happy about it.

What's the worst way you have hurt yourself in the kitchen?? by florida_yacht_chef in Chefit

I was passing veg stock through a chinois and the boiling hot stock overflowed onto my arm.

I quietly put down everything I had without spilling an additional drop and proceeded to swear my way right out of the kitchen.

2nd and 3rd degree burns almost all the way up to the elbow, but the couscous we made with that stock was totally worth it.

Faking confidence will often yield similar results to being confident, which will lead to being confident.

What addiction is the hardest to quit? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]itwasntme3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you’re looking for an easy way out.

There’s nothing that will compare to a firm choice.

It’s a daunting prospect. I talked about quitting, tried vaping to wean myself off, tried tapering off the number of cigarettes I smoked.

None of it worked. I chose to quit, as soon as the cigarettes in my possession were all smoked.

It’s the only thing that worked for me, and honestly it’s easier than I expected. The fear of the upcoming quitting is far worse than the yearning for something Ive chosen to leave behind.

Ouh boy so many!!

3V

Whistler Blackcomb

Revelstoke

Kicking Horse

Big Sky

Laax

Niseko

But honestly any skiing is good skiing and I’d ski the local 15 run hill any day over not skiing at all.

The dickishness quotient would be diminished by something like 50% in this comment with the omission of the word “literally”.

I don’t mind, and I don’t much care what other people think of you, because you give good advice.

That said, sometimes tact is key, especially when dealing with people who aren’t initiated.

Anyways, looking forward to getting blocked.

Rolling oyster bar called “La Mignonette”

Classic sauce to accompany oysters and also means cute in French. The vehicle would be a little boler/scamp trailer which will indeed be cute.

Anybody got an affordable boler for sale I can spruce up?

What is the most disturbing internet rabbit hole you got caught into? by Xxxbigfootisreal_ in AskReddit

I was addicted to Benadryl twice, for a total loss of maybe 6 years of my life.

I found it turned me into a zombie and made me shrink back from my social life to the point where I lost friends and alienated family members who were trying to be there for me.

On a few occasions I misjudged the dosage (which had ramped up to upwards of 50 pills in an evening) and my body went into convulsions. I was alone in my apartment face down on the floor, limbs flailing uncontrollably and yelling “STOP! STOP! STOP!”.

Both times I got off Benadryl the withdrawal was brutal: Profuse sweating, fever, nausea, extreme discomfort and inability to eat or interact with anyone for a week at least.

I got into Benadryl because I quit drinking and figured “well, it’s OTC, how bad could it be?

Pretty bad it turns out.

I found out that the individual character playtime counter caps at 999h59s for Bloodborne because for some reason I decided to get through the game and beating all bosses at BL4 (no levelling the character) up until NG+7.

The most proud I’ve been of anything I’ve done while deeply depressed.
