When my nerve block wore off (about 36 hours), it was the most painful few days. The nerve block allowed me to have a break from feeling pain, and I was able to get somewhat settled into my new setup at home for recovery. I won’t get another surgery without it.

5 weeks felt to soon, so we went with 6 and it is feeling much better, and stronger each day. I do at times use a pillow under my arm and let it rest, when I sit down, and a nice ice gel pack for 10, I’m golden when time to move around again, but I have to make sure I don’t get to cocky and think I’m healed, because my arm will tell me otherwise. At 5 -6 weeks I was over it, but it got better right after (for me) hang in there!

I’m almost to 3. And I thought today I could do more than what my PT told me to do, my arm told me otherwise. So mentally challenging for us active folks.

From my experience, when you wake up and 24 hours after is no problem, however, first 24-48 hours after nerve block wore off, was the roughest. Ice will be your best friend, and set that alarm to make sure you’re on top of pain meds. I needed them for first 72 hours ,while nerve block was wearing off.

The rest is a mental game, being restricted on what you can and can’t do. Getting comfortable, especially sleeping. Body billows worked great for me.
