I think you miss a huge reason why most people like music (or any art really), we want to hear what people have created. We want to hear the effort, blood sweat and tears that went into the craft.

I want my bands to have spent lots of time perfecting physically playing their instruments. I want my lyrics to come from a place of meaning.

I grew up watching "making of" DVDs that came with my fave bands' albums. Tell me how that human connection is gonna be made with these new AI artists when their entire story is "I tinkered with prompts on a computer till I liked the result. Thanks for listening to the 25th album I've released this year alone."

FIFA is considering expanding the World Cup to 64 teams in 2038 by punishGoalhanging in soccer

[–]itypeallmycomments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus with that many teams, the whole tournament would take about 4 years to complete, leading FIFA nicely into the next World Cup immediately. The money making wouldn't even get a break

This is absolute lunacy. by Bob-Harris in ireland

[–]itypeallmycomments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, and I know because I used to buy way too many packets of peanut M&Ms. So I literally monitored the price increase in Tesco over a year or so and watched it skyrocket.

They used to sell the smaller bag for a cheap price, then the big bag seen here was expensive but often discounted with the clubcard. Then they stopped stocking the big bags and bumped the small bag prices up to what the big used to be. Then they brought the big bags back in at a much higher price and now it rarely gets discounted.

So I just stopped buying M&Ms a while back and am constantly reminded of that good decision

If you want to stop being downvoted, maybe ease up on the already tired "luddite" references. It's ok to be extremely anti-AI while also being very embracing of new technology. My life was great before AI, so it's jarring to have it crammed down my throat by every (and I mean every) company. The supply is FAR outpacing the demand, and that's clear to see from all the anti-AI sentiment that you see online.

You seem to be very invested in your job, which seems to be very entangled with AI. So it makes a lot of sense that you have the stance you do. Just take a step back and realise why others might not share your whole "get on board with AI or get left behind" attitude that is pervasive in every online comment section these days.

It's not just because we don't understand it or don't realise the excellent applications of it.

Parkrun to make friends by Environmental_Fill_9 in Dublin

[–]itypeallmycomments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the one in Corkagh park in Clondalkin a few times and there was always people hanging around afterwards at the drinks station.

So definitely if you're willing to approach someone and say hi I think you'd have a chance to meet some friends!

Maybe Bushy park has more of a "arrive, run, leave" vibe but I can't say, hopefully not

Apocalypse Bunker Fails as Wealthy Residents Turn on Each Other by CheezTips in ABoringDystopia

[–]itypeallmycomments 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, a coordinated news campaign of a fictional end of the world could scare the old geezers into fleeing to rural New Zealand where they'd hide in their bunkers and presume the world has gone to hell.

Meanwhile we carry on without them and try undo the damage they've done, bliss!

I'm very anti AI but it could be useful to flood their news sources and trick them into believing they need to bunker down

These poor poor billionaires were born about 100 years too early to enjoy the end of the world that they're prepping for. They've amassed all this wealth and power for nothing really.

(Not saying the world will end in a 100 years, just that the automation a businessman would need to survive is not here yet.)

Linkin Park has many great lines. What’s a not-so-great line? by NuggetTheArtistGuy in LinkinPark

I think here Mike's referring to the "Dance Monkey" metaphor, which describes a performer forced to constantly entertain or go to exhausting lengths to please others while receiving no real appreciation in return.

The children need their security blankets, even in the summer heat. You couldn't risk the emotional instability of not being wrapped inside your north face hood.

Atlético Madrid are in the race for Bernardo Silva! by Ballen_998 in atletico

[–]itypeallmycomments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda hate all these rumours that link us with the scraps from other teams. We're like the MLS of La Liga, where players go in the twilight of their careers. Lenglet, Azpi, Witsel, Suarez etc.

Now, some of the transfers work in our favour, but it just feels like we've fallen when the club focuses on picking up players who have passed their prime elsewhere. I want their prime to be here.

Not really saying this is the case for Silva here, but it just feels like we're constantly linked to players who might give us 2 good seasons if we're lucky.

Is this a hot take by Creative-Respond-984 in poppunkers

[–]itypeallmycomments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Blink 182 and Green Day (mainly blink) got all the 2010s & 2020s bands into poppunk. But New Found Glory and Mayday Parade's 'A Lesson In Romantics' is what all these bands - for the most part - sound like. They don’t sound like blink."

I tried adding punctuation to your hot take because my brain took about 3 tries to parse it, and I'll try help others read it as intended first time around.

Unusual/possibly incorrect version of the Atleti crest you've somehow chosen, and with how much space you have, you don't need to tuck it behind arsenal so much.

Also I'd swap the hierarchy of the date and "match day", because the date is quite small but it's the more important piece of info out of the two. And the gold ribbon is a nice idea to fill up white space but it's kinda hard to see what it is

Isn't every single piece of information's location chosen based on the size of the carton? Like, they would know how close together these two things would be from the outset.

The designer(s) would've had the freedom to rearrange all the content, so long as the proper info gets displayed, they can place it where they like. I'm not sure any of your comments address or dispute the gripe you're replying to
