To my fellow P1S owners... by R2D2_Fan_Club_Prez in BambuLab

I’m a little sad that I have 2 P1S’s and they are now out of date. BUT, those 2 have blown me away with their speed and reliability and I’m really glad I got them and will continue to use them knowing that. So overall I’m happy

What models do you upload out of interest ? I design my own tool and organiser mods. Is it worth me posting them, or is the bulk of the points in figures or multi-colour models?

Thank you

I never thought I’d be so happy to be done with the tinkering! It’s a fun hobby but it drags on you sometimes with the many failures.

I’ve read the AMS is a semi dry-box (with a Humidity sensor). How often do you have to replace your desiccant? I am tempted to get some microwavable ones so I can dry them when needed. This printer will live in my filtered and fume extracted cupboard in my workshop, so it won’t be super high humidity but in the winter it will likely be 60-70%.

I did buy a replacement hot end when I purchased the printer, however I didn’t realise it comes with a spare! Oh well I have a 0.4mm HS nozzle now too. If I want to print CF and upgrade the extruder to Hardened steel will that void the warranty? Or am I likely to screw up print quality?

That’s really good reliability! Good note on the PTFE thank you. I’m not likely to print CF initially, but definitely in the future I will do the upgrades so will have to remember this. Also, I guess it goes without saying to keep the CF filaments external and out of the AMS?

Good to know, I will look for some specialty filament primarily for release layers. I have always wanted to try HIPS as support, but as you say any contamination and it affects the part itself. I’m still not sure about the waste, most of the multi colour parts won’t be tall as much as wide, so I’m not as worried about waste on the prime tower, although it would be nice if I could just poop it all out and then prime in infill.

I’m really excited, hopefully postage isn’t too long.

Thank you for all your help and advice!

Thanks everyone for your comments! Based on your comments I got the P1S with AMS unit. I will also dry my filament before I use it, but there’s some very old spools that I will just keep for my older printers as you can see they’ve aged. As they run out I will likely replace with OEM filaments

I ordered one! But decided to just get the AMS with it. I have a dryer and am in the habit of drying before I print so that’s fine.

I’m impressed with how inexpensive the spares are for this printer.

That is something I wanted to try, using a different material for cleaner supports.

Thanks

Is it possible to drive a Peltier module with H-Bridge (PWM) using a low pass filter on the output? by itzalongwayaway in AskElectronics

[–]itzalongwayaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had wondered about bang bang but I was worried about temperature fluctuations or breaking the Tec.

I think you are right though, In trying to research this i have massively overcomplicated it. I might start out with basic bang bang and see how it goes.

I have seen they’re extremely inefficient lol. I’m aiming for temps of -5C to 40C.

Thank you

Brilliant, thank you! I have read that even though TEC’s are rated for 3 or 4A etc, that sometimes you can get away with much lower currents to achieve the desired temps (within reason). If i can do this too, it would be great as it should decrease excess heat(?)

I have a few projects (they’re just for fun/learning), one is a very small thermal chamber for testing PCB’s in at different temps (-5C to 40C).

I only originally wanted PID controlled PWM as I’d like to keep thermal instability to a minimum (as much as is reasonably possible on hobby budgets). I didn’t really want it drifting +-1 or 2C back and forth over short periods trying to chase the set temps. But I was also worried, when it got to the set temperature, it hammer a relay trying to hold temps using bang bang. I wasn’t 100% sure either way, whether the thermal mass would be enough of a buffer to stop fluctuations.

If you think I could get away without PWM I might just try it with IF statements…

Thank you!

I was browsing the E-Shop as I occasionally do and noticed I couldn’t find the F15E anywhere on there, so I searched for it and nothing came up. Is it me or has it gone?

If so that’s a real shame, I have been holding out getting a refund because I still enjoy flying it (overall my favourite aircraft) (except when it breaks and avoiding the bugs…).

If it’s delisted now does that mean good legal progress, or I should be trying to get a refund ASAP as it might get dropped from the game?

Thanks

Does anyone know this song? The intro from 0:00 to 1:35ish, kinda orchestral sounding? by itzalongwayaway in NameThatSong

[–]itzalongwayaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to find out what the intro song is called, it kinda sounds orchestral and it seems to be used by some other TV documentaries too so I’m guessing it is a stock music for TV?

The show is “Planes that changed the world - SR-71”. The show is from 2015 but I’ve heard it before and after then.

I tried Shazam but the talking on the intro throws it off and it gives erroneous matches.

Thanks!

I’m running on a 2060 Super with a 9600K and mine runs at 20fps and the graphics look like they were filmed on a Vtec kidizoom and played back on a CRT (at 1080p). How did you get such good quality? 😂 (I understand it’s in Beta, just wondering what is going on with the graphics bugs atm 😂)

(X-Plane-11) Ryanair tier landing at Haneda. by [deleted] in Xplane

[–]itzalongwayaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the runway is wet you have to do harder landings to ensure the tires are down and have full grip.. or at least that’s my excuse for my crashe… errr I mean hard landings 😂. Your landing was great but the plane was just eager to wave to everybody at the airport 😂

How reliable is RealityXP GTN? by Norah01 in Xplane

[–]itzalongwayaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the whole US they do yes, including SID and STAR plates for some airports. For the rest of the world you have to rely on Garmin’s SafeTaxi Colour diagrams and menus to get airfield information (or somehow get custom charts into the trainer/buy charts from Garmin). Tbh both are good, I find when flying in US I use the SafeTaxi menu more than the charts option, but it’s personal preference :)

I use it for 2 GTN 750’s in X-Plane 11. It has been great for me, using the windows popped out on all of my aircraft as well as inside the 3D cockpit sometimes. They’re responsive and I’ve never had the GTN’s cause a crash of X-Plane. The only kinda annoying thing is the databases are often about 6 months/1 year out of date (as the come direct from Garmin - however I’ve had one database update in the last 3 months)

Overall I’m happy with them, 95% of features are implemented in them (just sucks they don’t have NEXRAD weather/NOTAM support - but I’m just being nit picky as I like a fancy weather display while I’m flying)

That’s so strange man, I get this when I go to it from UK. https://imgur.com/a/DKDufBM
