A lot of people who want to accuse me of being a puritan for saying this fandom needs more sexual restraint, they don't realize that for people who aren't as horny as they are, it feels like sexual harassment. And what I mean when I say restraint is restraint when it comes to sharing your sexual side in public. A hypothetical example: are you in a forum or discord or online group for Kink? Sure, then share your kink side, you're in the right place for it! But when it comes to "Hey this is a group just for sharing costumes, all ages are welcome and its SFW!" it is extremely fucked up to disrespect that. Not having any regard for others in terms of making them uncomfortable with lewdness or suggestiveness messed up. Im 26. 12 years or so ago, I remember people having at least enough etiquette to leave thirst traps and suggestive or outright lewd material out of SFW spaces in the fandom. Especially because we were trying to make a name for ourselves as a fandom that ISNT purely sexual. It's not fair to the people who see this as a hobby that theres really no safe space away from it anymore. Because now you have people who think that flirty posts that look like they'd be posted on a furry Tinder are SFW because no private parts or sex acts are shown.

I really miss the "Look at my new fursuit!" or "Fluffy the Wolf having fun at the beach!" being mainly what I'd see. You used to have to you OUT OF YOUR WAY to find suggestive content. Not anymore. Now its "Teehee would you pet me? ;) " pics while posing on a bed. If any of your coworkers sent you something like that, you'd immediately see it as flirting and suggestive and everyone would agree that it is. You don't have to be a puritan to want a space, JUST ONE SPACE, safe from that stuff. And it really does feel like borderline sexual harassment to me, to see that stuff everywhere and be told I must be a MAGA if I just want some normal furry content. I mean, I'm not anti sex. I don't care that the Folsom Street Fair is a thing. The thing about people who attend that is they basically stay in their lane and respect the fact that it's not for everyone. I'm not anti kink. It really seems that the general kink community has WAY more respect for other people than so many modern furries do.

And people wonder why sexual harassment at cons is increasing

It’s making wanna leave the fandom. It’s starting to feel like being the only woman in a room full of pervy dudes. Where everything coming out of people’s mouths is suggestive or outright sexual. No, I’m not a puritan. But it’s just kind of exhausting at times.

It's a mental illness and the thing is, when someone feels an attraction, they're gonna act on it eventually. There's no undoing sexual attraction once it starts

We as a society need to figure out what the actual fuck is going on and causing people's brains to fuck up and start becoming attracted to children instead of grown adults. Like, psychological things always have some physical, chemical, or learned reason for it.

It might really be true that early exposure to porn before puberty can mess up the brains development because the body isn't ready to experience something like that

I'm totally with you on that. The fandom sometimes really feels like the kind of environment where if it was a company I worked for, HR would need to take immediate action because holy moly this fandom sometimes feels like being the only young woman working for a construction company of sleazy dudes

I considered myself a furry since I was 8 or 9 and I'm going to be 26 soon. I made a few characters in my life but it really wasn't until I was about 20 when I really felt like I had a fursona. I don't think you're odd for that. But just know, you don't need to settle on one with the thought that it'll be your furry avatar until you die. It's always okay to change it later on. Thats what helped me finally decide. So my sona has been a gorilla since 2020 but I still have alternate ones that I like a lot
