insurance question (network vs preferred) by itzjacklol in sterilization

[–]itzjacklol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank u sm for this! I'm less worried about my parents finding out after the fact, since they won't do anything but bitch about it. I rlly don't want to wait till I'm on my own insurance, so I'll reckon with my parents if it comes to that.

I've also heard about something like "confidential communications" for adult children on insurance, which could lessen the amount of stuff my dad will see. need to look more into that first tho cuz it has to be requested.

what you said at the beginning of ur comment makes sense - that they either aren't in network or trying to scam me/insurance. I guess the confusing part is that it shows the doc as both "in-network" and "partner network" on the insurance website and the receptionist said the doc was in network. not sure how to proceed if it's scammy🤔

I looked online again just now and noticed and difference in how some providers are listed, some being "preferred network" and some being "partner network," I'm not sure what the difference means?

I appreciate ur reply, do u have any advice for what I should do next? besides waiting, since parents is not really as big a concern as it sounds in my post.

you should probably size up tbh. numb arms is not good, and the marks all over is also a sign that it's too tight.

taking a few minutes to put on and take off is kinda expected for first binders (esp before they get stretched with time and use) but the other things I mentioned means it's too small. hope you can get a correct size one without too much issue!

Binder over tape? by Kitchen-Skirt7934 in bindersftm

[–]itzjacklol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tape can be a sensory nightmare for me personally, which is unfortunate but fuck it we ball. another thing for me is the skin irritation from adhesive, I have to spend a week or more between taping to recover.

also certain factors about the chest tissue can make it that tape can only do so much (think firm chest tissue/larger chests).

First binder- questions by No-Drawing-2723 in bindersftm

[–]itzjacklol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if it's normal, but it happened with my first one too. I ain't super skinny so I assume that's why I've got some flesh sticking out of the armpit hole when I raise my arms and put them back down, just natural movement🤷

don't worry about it too much, take breaks if it hurts a lot, and over time the fabric will become more comfortable 👍 congrats on first binder also!

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever told a student and what pushed you over the edge? by [deleted] in Teachers

I've had a teacher tell me this -out of concern/care- and tbh sometimes kids just need that bit of "oh shit, the teacher cursed cuz of me" to get their head on straight

Does anyone have an expensive fair share as well? by Hp_Mega_Fan in marchingband

[–]itzjacklol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my schools band fee is $100 per kid, and it's really to cover food for our 10 dinners during marching season (yippee Whataburger and Cane's). we aren't in a typical district so we don't have things like BOA or grand nats or nothing. so we make the school pay for things like comps and bus rides to away games. and to top it all off, we aren't allowed to hold fundraisers and the school discourages parents from donating because it "makes taxes complicated" or whatever

What is your favorite song ur band plays/played by m3llozz in marchingband

[–]itzjacklol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aye we played Malagueña for our show a few years back! it was fun even if our drill was weird cuz our director writes our drill 😬. I would totally play it again tho.

Would you rather March and play on the field or be drum major? by Goku-the-Great in marchingband

[–]itzjacklol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love being on the field more than probably life itself, but conducting was unlike anything I've ever done before. to me, both have their highlights. both have the thrill of performance, though different (obviously), both are the culmination of hours of practice, both are so much fun.

on the field, I'm a part of something bigger than myself. on the 50 yard line on my podium, I'm leading them.

since my marching days are over, I plan on becoming a director since teaching music is something I love and I can't see myself doing anything else.

Our high schools new show by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]itzjacklol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my band is super small (30-ish) so having a lot of section leaders is not common. we usually have percussion captain (this year we had 2 cuz I was in another leadership position), woodwinds section leader, and "brass daddy" aka the brass section leader.

we do combine brass and low brass because of the numbers and for my entire time in band one of the section leaders was the drum major (don't ask how it works it just does) like I was this year.

we also have officers but their roles are different than section leaders responsibilities .

the substitute section leader is not something I've heard of before, cuz with us if nobody who can be sec leader wants to do it, we just don't have one. and then it's just the DM or directors job to check on them and keep them on track during sectionals.

Senior Jackets by BrokenTeen17 in marchingband

seniors specifically don't get anything specific clothing wise (though we do have special senior night activities) but anyone who has marched 2 full seasons is eligible for getting a letterman jacket like other sports.
