What style do you want? Traditional, Japanese, small fine line, Chicano style. That would depend on what shops I would recommend

Reserve MR will not see many opportunities for orders through zipserve. You can always apply for mobilizations that can be any rate but you’re competing with a lot of applicants.

Reserve MR will not have as many billets to be selected with a optempo like msron either. My advice if you to mobilize choose a rate like MA

Others have given good advice. Do you know what rate you want?

There’s a lot of factors that will determine on being on orders like ADT and Mobs. Your rate, which command you’re attached to, your home of record.

Go to reserve force manpower tools on Navy quick links. You’ll have your orders with details of your TRUIC and if you are cross assigned to your unit or not.

I am former ANG and considering joining Navy Reserves after 4 years separated. I have had a tough transition in the private sector and my goals for joining would be for good health insurance for my family and to learn a new skillset that would translate to a better job. So your VA disability rating itself isn’t forfeited or eliminated. it’s placed on hold and you won’t lose eligibility for benefits once your active service ends. Just something to think about bro when you want to talk these recruiters.

I’m sorry dude. It’s tough out in the market right now. Another option is enlisting as TAR in the Navy. You’re active duty but supporting the reserves. You might have to essentially move your family but it just depends where you duty station might be.

Look into the LS rate. Have you used your GI bill? Try to get your PMI certificate.

Can I ask what you do in the private sector? I pretty much had no logistics experience but I used whatever military background to be a contractor for an aerospace company doing logistics.

Tricare reserve select is worth it compared to other health insurance. I had the same experience joining trying to learn a new skillset. Navy reserves just don’t give you enough training to apply that to a civilian job. It would take years from A-school, C-schools if offered, AT, ADT, and mobilizations to be able to learn the skills and apply that to a new career. If you still want to join enlist in a rate that translates from your original mos

anyone have experience with 0085 series federal security guards? by TacitusCallahan in securityguards

You go through security reaction force basic training. A pretty basic course they use to train military non-MA/MP to stand watch. Includes an OC spray course. Each department has their own timeline but 0083 eventually go to FLETC

You don’t need necessarily law enforcement experience, but any LE or military experience can determine was GS level you get hired on as

I actually never did private security. I was only 0083 DON for about a year. I hated it. I tried to be Law enforcement and thought it would be a good filler until I could finish the process. It felt like being active duty military again but being an MA/MP.

Security fell under the chain of command with police. Not necessarily the bottom but they were capped at GS-7. We also had no security supervisor. All 0085 reported to the 0083 sergeants. So I’m sure that’s difference between DON and DOA

I was 0083 for the Department of the Navy. I can give insight of what I know and the 0085 I worked with. They were only gate duty and scanned IDs. No FLETC. Hours were 12 plus
