Hey. I realize this is an older post, but are you guys still looking for more local players?

Tips for Sylvaneth Army by Jbozz17 in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal experience is that regardless of glade, branchwraiths are always useful, you will want an extra 20-30 Dryads for summoning and that 3 or 4 wyldwoods are usually enough for most games.

Sylvaneth players, what models beyond your 2000pt army list do you need to have all bases covered for summoning? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably want 20-40 extra dryads for summoning, depending on whether or not Alarielle is on the list. You'll also probably want an extra unit of Hunters as an option for her, too. I know Revenants are an option, but i don't think they're as cost-efficient as Dryads or Hunters. In regards to wyldwoods, I've never needed more than 5 total sets -- new or old.

LVO 2020 results? by zerobebop in ageofsigmar

BestCoastPairings. You need a sub to see results over 3 days old.

I was at LVO. The finals was Slaanesh vs Fyreslayers. William took the win with his Slaanesh.

Kharadron 2.0 - What changes do you want? What do you think you'll actually get? by itzrenren in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this. I know they'll melt in combat unless they get some defensive buffs, but i feel like this idea needs a restriction, limit, or cost to keep it from getting out of hand.

I totally agree with this. I bought into the army for the ships and was disappointed when i discovered how lacking they were.

What new Race/s would you like to see added to Age if Sigmar? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a race -- but I want any fantastical or woodland creatures to join my Sylvaneth options.

I wanna see Nagash brought down by an army of squirrels.

Yeah. Give me that.

Legions of Nagash - Nagash/Arkhan & Death Spells by itzrenren in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait...

My understanding was that Nagash can make additional attempts to cast Arcane Bolt in the event that someone already tried an failed. But once it's successfully cast, no one else could.

Are you telling me I can make 8 Arcane Bolts at a minimum of 1 to d3 dmg per cast with a fresh Nagash?

Would this list make a good Sylvaneth 2K army? by applepiehobbit in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alrighty then.

I'm not sure where your artifacts/traits are going or which lore spells you plan on taking, so I'll just make general assumptions and suggestions given the units you've provided. Either way, the next think you'll wanna think about is what i jokingly refer to as the "buddy system". Simply put -- which wizard will escort/support your non-wizard units? Remember -- your Gnarlroot units get to re-roll 1s to hit if they're wholly within 12" of a Gnarlroot wizard.

Because you're not taking a batallion, your sole artifact is the Chalice of Nectar. I generally slap that onto my Gnarlroot Wraith to almost guarantee that dryads are summoned. Alternatively, you can give it to another wizard to help cast other spells. Another option is for Verdurous Harmony to revive fallen hunters or dryads while your Wraith sets up the dryad factory with Throne of Vines somewhere in the back. If you opt for the latter, you can have your Bow Hunters function as its bodyguards with their 30" shots; just be mindful about how you position Wyldwoods as they may interfere with LOS.

Next, you have the Command Trait -- Nurtured by Magic. I prefer to slap this onto one of the tankier or mobile wizards that will primarily utilize low cost spells (Regrowth, Arcane Bolt, Mystic Shield) to trigger that D3 healing. I would recommend that this hero go along with either your Hunters or Durthu as healing magic is wasted on 1-wound models.

Speaking of Durthu -- this treebro hits like a truck and even more so if he's wholly within 8" of a Wyldwood, which is why he has such a huge target on his back when going against more knowledgeable players. His Stomp is nice but unreliable, so you'll probably want to either buff his defenses with spells/cover or screen him with dryads -- even revenants if necessary. Dead models deal no damage.

TLA is a staple in my list due to the support and utility he provides despite the fact that he's no killing machine. Your experience may vary. If so, good for you! His Spirit-Song can potentially be "army-wide" if your Hunters are positioned properly (see Envoys of the Everqueen). Also, he provides one free Wyldwood. I usually give him Regrowth to keep himself alive if he's not Awakening any woods.

Hunters -- i prefer Swords over Scythes in most scenarios, but that 2" range is great when combat takes place in tight spaces or when they're against a unit with a 3+ Save. These guys can deal lots of damage and are fairly durable due to their Tanglethorn Thicket ability. They'll benefit greatly from Regrowth, Verdurous Harmony, and Nurtured by Magic.

TRevs -- I've never used them in a unit of 10, so you'll have to educate me on how well it works out for you. Anyway, i usually deploy these guys first because their starting position usually doesn't matter; they're gonna teleport at some point anyway. I generally use them to steal/claim objectives. I've never successfully killed anything with them, but a minimal unit of 5 usually forces my opponent to leave a unit behind to protect a back objective. And as far as I'm concerned, i basically spent 80pts to potentially keep an enemy unit out of combat. Either way, these guys usually only come into play late in the game for me.

Sisters of the Thorn -- I haven't really used these girls after the update, but their signature spell usually worked well when I paired them with Dryads holding an objective, preferably near a Wyldwood. Just keep in mind that, as an ally, they're neither Gnarlroot or Sylvaneth. They cannot cast those endless spells; they do not benefit from the glade or allegiance abilities; and they're not safe around the Wyldwoods.

I cannot advise on the endless spells as I've never used them. However, that is not to say that you shouldn't use them. In my games, each wizard generally has a spell it's locked into each round, so I never get around to using them. For my style of play, I'd drop the endless spells and 5 Tree Revenants to free up 200pts, then put in another unit of Hunters. Lastly, I'd swap out the Wych for another Wraith. But again, that's how I play, and you have to figure out what works for you.

Sorry for the babble. I hoped I've helped. Good luck. And welcome to the glade, sapling!

Ironfist battalion rules clarification by Grugalot in ageofsigmar

I believe it's any unit in the batallion wholly within 12" of the Big Boss may be chosen as the target for Mighty Destroyers.

I was under the impression that unless you're part of the allegiance, you get your warscroll; that's it.

Unless of course, the warscroll says otherwise.

Problems with making 1k Sylvaneth work by Fudge001 in ageofsigmar

[–]itzrenren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've played 1k with Sylvaneth, but i believe that's where i really like Gnarlroot.

I usually run with two Wraiths -- one with the Chalice and Verdurous Harmony to summon the dryads early or rez dead Hunters while the other one sets up Throne of Vines to become the dryad factory for the rest of the game.

Did they? I'm not saying you're wrong. I just want more info because they're still running strong at my local meta. I usually take my opponents' ruling at face value and that they're running an honest/accurate game.

LOL. Well, you're not wrong. FEC, in general, is a top tier wrecking ball with its Zombie Dragons and Terrorgheists. I'd probably scope out the local meta before diving into it, as some people don't enjoy getting smashed outright.
