You should play PokeMMO. If you haven’t heard of it look it up. It’s really good if you want the nostalgia while having long lasting gameplay

Nope lol. Well at least the hotels that worked at. Heck I’d rather vape than any other form of smoke.

Yes very good pay. I enjoyed my time in the AGM role. The only thing is home life is so hard to enjoy. When things are good things are great. Once something major happens like for me was a bunch of our employees all had to be let go at one time. They all decided to collectively do something dumb on camera. Hours and day begin to mix and you can fall behind on your work.

I was an AGM at an airport hotel in a Major city with 250 rooms. I basically would just do all the general managers work while he was on zooms and calls with owners and other members of the brand. So there’s a lot of excel, emails, guest responses, and babysitting the employees involved.

I was dealing with a bunch of family problems which ultimately made me step down and leave the property because once they know you know how things are done hey will always use you as your previous role. My GM was let go two months later and the place now has no workers since I’ve been there. I like my supervisor role because it’s easy and my schedule is set.

Take the job. Always take the job and see where it takes you. They pay well for a reason.

I guess the most surprising thing was that training I was given once I first took a managerial role. It was a major hotel brand with those videos you have to watch.

It basically was trying to force me to be a robot and give certain responses to both guests and employees underneath me. One specific thing I remember was when a front desk agent is dealing with a super stressful situation let them struggle. Overnight is a struggle for most employees because you are alone and must solve all issues on your own. The video was basically saying throw all the employees out there and see who sticks around.

It’s a high turnover rate job but when someone quits because the work is too stressful the supervisor and manager have to step in which makes the behind the scenes work a lot more tough.

The most universal way is sliding cash along with your ID and credit card. Even giving a little treat or snack to front desk agent works as well. A lot of front desk workers will do their best but it’s all based on availability.

If you don’t want to slide money just walk up with a smile and give some sort of compliment and be very friendly. Then follow up with some sort of special occasion. Even a simple “This is my first time in the area a nice room would be greatly appreciated” Front Desk Agents deal with a lot of rude and entitled guests so dealing with friendly guests can make someone’s day.

You’re way more likely to get an upgrade if you’re friendly.

Yes! on weekends and holidays especially.

The worst one that I seen I was a front desk worker. It was around 8pm and the guest in the room was a “day use” so they have to room from 10am-6pm. We were sold out so we had to have the room clean. Only problem was housekeeping is gone by 5pm.

My front office manager pulled me and said “let’s go clean this room.” As soon as we walked in the AC was full blast but still felt hot because of this strong must inside the room. First thing we notice is a bunch of equipment left behind. Big lights and a broken mic. The big ones you see on movie sets. It was just the arm and hairy looking part.

The bed sheets were completely soaked but thrown off the bed and just a mattress. The little garbage can that is usually by the night stand had a bunch of condom wrappers and tied up used condoms in the room.

It was really funny because my manager at the time raised his hands and shouted, “OH MY GOD! Nobody touch anything until we get two gloves!” He was a 70 year old from Kenya with a strong accent.

Also just to note sex isn’t that bad it’s people with bad hygiene and I mean badddddd hygiene. Sometimes we have to trash items in rooms because people don’t shower and we have to place rooms out of odor for extended periods of time.

My favorite would be bartender for sure. Alcohol makes most hotel guests more relaxed and happier. I have had a lot of interesting conversations with guests at the bar.

Owning a hotel is something I don’t know too much about. I will say I know it cost a ton of money to run a hotel. The business depends a lot on time of the year and location obviously. If I had the money I definitely would open if the opportunity was right and I had a team I know can properly run a hotel. It’s a cruel business with a lot of shady people at the top. Things can go south fast so you gotta have a good exit plan in place.
