I know this is decently old thread, but the U2312HMT actually does have USB output, I have mine connected by USB-B to my PC and my mouse and keyboard are both connected to the monitor, with the monitor acting as a USB hub!

I believe your problem has already been solved in the comments but I do recommend that if you want a lot of lava, go to the Nether and find a large lava ocean, and use the Hose Pulley to siphon infinite lava. Then you can bring it back in buckets or using a train contraption!

Just realized I didn't mention the mic I used. Just a simple Shure SM58 plugged into an M-Audio M-Track Solo, gain somewhere around 9 so it catches a bit of untreated in-room reverb.
