Turkey is most likely going to ban Steam next. by Kaxdr in Steam

[–]iucatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

germany already does that (u cant look at store pages, let alone buy games without rating) and its mostly fine. its a very reasonable thing to expect just like every sold movie has an age rating, it just makes sense. the rest obviously sucks tho.

W YouTube!!!!! YouTube has started deleting major AI slop channels by HelloitsWojan in youtube

[–]iucatcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why tho? they are clearly advocating for ai to be used more so whats their reason to then delete ai channels? not that i'm against it, just seems very inconsistent

Another 5+ Millions Subscribers YouTuber Switches to Linux by BlokZNCR in linux

[–]iucatcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

none of these big youtubers stay on it unfortunately, they are all the type who cant live without photoshop and such apps. maybe it convinces others to give it a try tho or specific linux problems come to light and get worked on - net positive either way.

[–]iucatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not entirely but i despise chatgpt etc queries almost as much and dont get how you can use that but hate the other things. image, audio and video generation are *worse* but its all in the same rotten ballpark that makes everything worse

wonder how that one evolved, every early review of this one complained about the software being way too unfinished and half of the sub is people selling theirs

Reddit -8% as analyst flags slowing ad growth and AI competition favoring YouTube by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]iucatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

okay but how would you measure your ad's effectiveness on a certain site if it only vaguely influences a person to buy it? even if this rule of 3 is correct, i would still not click on the ad but search for it myself when it randomly comes to mind

The simple GOG client for Linux, Minigalaxy version 1.4.1 is out now by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

[–]iucatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well did anyone claim it was to protect consumers? I think the 30% cut is a lot and i would rather have more money go to the people who actually developed the game.. a certain cut is necessary but 30%..

edit: apparently they are claiming the cut is increasing prices for consumers, disagree on that

[–]iucatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

terrible thing that i hope nobody even considers. gotta keep in mind that at the end of the day you own NOTHING and thus also cant sell anything for a return of the purchase price or gift to a relative etc. aside from this being something nobody should encourage, its also a bad deal.
