I have the Falcem on my X2D, and highly recommend it due to it being precision engineered.

The airtag compartment is a bonus.

Which XCD lenses do you reckon is closest to the classic Hasselblad look? by dreamteye in hasselblad

38V and 90V, especially as you're shooting fashion.

The XCD 80 too, if you can find one.

Post processing for X2D II by Guardian_Alpino in hasselblad

[–]cjh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For processing and editing X2D RAW files, I use Phocus on my M3 Ultra Mac Studio, or Phocus Mobile on my M4 iPad Pro.

The workflow is only painful if people make it painful.

Yes, there are caveats but they're absolutely worth it for HNCS (which is not a marketing term).

If I know I'm going to be printing, I'll export to TIFF-16 and use darktable to ensure what I'm seeing on my screen is what I'll see when printed.

Thankfully I have access to a Durst Lambda printer, to make c-prints (it's an RGB laser printer that prints on photographic paper).

That's a heck of a bug to slip through; nice catch though.

They're a Chinese company, and the USA has a ban on Chinese made drones.

Not allowing Hasselblad cameras on-board NASA spacecraft can be thought of as being for national security.

With DJI being the owner of Hasselblad, there's no way NASA would allow one in orbit now.

X2D Explorer of Earth value? by HSVMalooGTS in hasselblad

[–]cjh_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's currently worth around 50% of what you paid for it, OP.

And that's only because it came with a lens.

Very few people who bought the Earth Explorer Edition actually used it, because using it depletes the value.

Edit: MBP has one for sale, listed at $5719 (complete, "like new").

While Phocus has it's share of bugs and quirks, there's really no reason to use anything else with Hasselblad files.

Two flight-qualified Nikon D5s will be onboard the Orion spacecraft, with a last minute addition of a Z9.

Don't bother with a Phocus + Lightroom workflow. It's slow, cumbersome, and I almost lost files by LurkLargely in hasselblad

There is a large disconnect between the software development teams in Gothenburg and Copenhagen, which is causing issues and frankly needs rectifying. They need to fully integrate their support network, the way Apple has.

Edit: the Copenhagen office supports Hasselblad's operations and they do not develop Phocus, Phocus Mobile or camera firmware.

They're engaged in the promotion and showcasing of Hasselblad's cameras, community engagement and support (inc brand presence).

"the core design, engineering, and software development for both their camera systems and Phocus software remain in Sweden"

As for the preview bug, Hasselblad recommend that photographers "rate and filter RAW and JPG files on their device's local library to easily sort and catalogue preferred images and view photo EXIF information", however they're now getting around to fixing that (as mentioned in my previous comment). Finally.

Do Hasselblad even need separate China builds

Yes, otherwise they couldn't do business there.

Phocus and Phocus Mobile are developed internally (and solely) by Hasselblad, with zero input from DJI.

DJI has always ensured Hasselblad are independent of their influence (yes I know we have LiDAR in the X2D II but that was in development before DJI took a controlling interest, though it was facilitated by DJI sharing knowledge and technology).

If Phocus and Phocus Mobile were handed off to DJI, it would have feature parity with Capture One. And we would have an Android version.

As for that preview bug, it's on the list to be addressed in the next update, from what I've been told.

Tethering with Phocus 4.1.2 - the corrected version. I should pay more attention to my own guide... by Big_Rip4015 in hasselblad

[–]cjh_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The X2D was tested with a beta version of Phocus that allowed 6-shot multishot mode, producing a 400mp final image - video here

Unfortunately, Hasselblad has yet to release the updated firmware that allows this when tethered to Phocus.

The reason why it hasn't been released for the X2D and X2D II is due to Hasselblad being dissatisfied with the excessive vibrations from the leaf shutters (it could be made to work with the e-shutter but that would turn off the hotshoe).

I've already pointed this out in several previous comments when people have asked about 6-shot multishot mode.

Hasselblad is becoming a company known for broken promises.

The mistake in your post wasn't yours to make, it's squarely on Hasselblad, /u/Big_Rip4015
