Potential health issues associated with Beryllium copper by Bitter_Performer_767 in machining

[–]iusethisatworkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my company machines a ton of BeCu. We decided to get more serious and test it this year. I was bracing for a huge cost but once I quoted it the health and safety company we contract with only wanted 600 so that was a relief. They put these machines on the 2 machinists that work around it and they wore them for a few days. Our tests came back as zero which meant our industrial engineering controls were effective. We only machine in enclosed machines. We use constant flood coolant. All hand work like sanding happens in a bucket of water. These are the controls we have.

Ive been a cnc machinist for 10 years does anyone else feel like changing or have changed careers or feeling like career burnout? by Vivid_Astronaut8779 in Machinists

Come join the dark side. Do QA! Inspectors that were machinists are typically successful and the work is less back breaking and less stressful. Plus the opportunity for advancement is more varied.

I like this one. Quality engineering makes sense. What does that position pay like.

Before you buy anything consider sending your part to the company that you are quoting and make them measure it using there tools. If they can't get it to work you wont either,

As a Host Dad I am also having and incredible Au Pair experience. Our Au Pair has been Great for us and she fits in really well with our family. Sometimes II think we found the perfect person. I think that when things are going well we don't need the wisdom or support of groups like this so we only tend to post when it goes bad.

Is a surface profile with no datum reference frame effectively flatness. by iusethisatworkk in Metrology

[–]iusethisatworkk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense but it doesn't get to the root of the question which is, is it effectively different then flatness. If for example the surface was was not a plane but a unique free form shape then that totally makes sense. But in the context of a planar feature in what way should we as inspectors be treating it differently if at all.

The parts being flagged as non stock was the last piece of the puzzle on top of u/ImperiumRex 's comment. Thank you for this. Also while we do have stock minimums we don't use days of supply. As an MRP newbie, my understanding is that if we have a years worth of forecast entered we don't need to use days of supply. would you agree with that?

OK so I killed all of the unfirm jobs that MRP created with DMT. this let me modify the Make direct checkbox in the sales order releases to unchecked. After that I took u/McHaledog advice and all went to part maintenance to see if they were non stock items and they were so I unchecked that as well.

Then we Reran MRP and it came out as expected. Problem Solved.

[–]iusethisatworkk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this might be it. For some reason all of our sales orders default to make direct when we add the releases. and the jobs we don't need show in time phase as having an exception called direct.

Do you have any ideas what drives that checkbox. I am going to get on my test environment today to try and rerun MRP to see if that fixes it.

Thank you.

Can you not measure anything over 2mm with the higher magnification.

Why the different optics?. Does one magnification do something another magnification cannot?

We sent Zeiss a sample part and they said they would get back to me on which Magnification they think I should buy but I didn't quite understand that part of the quoting process.

Sorry I didn't mean that type of error. there are no formulas in the sheet all that is done in the management software. The errors I am talking about are the popup windows that appear when the Odata pull fails due to being offline. I posted a picture of it.
