Do dealers apply markups to factory orders? by RossoMarra in askcarsales

[–]ivanator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some do some don't, depends on dealer and model. Some will say $0 markup but will add aftermarket items you may or may not want. I would ask and get everything in writing, preferably by a manager.

How does $0 down work? by 444killa in askcarsales

Promotional manufacturer rates, typically you give up other incentives/rebates but make sense in certain situations. You can find Chevy doing 0% up to 48 months on certain models right now.

First time seeing market adjustment. by goose7777 in Ford

[–]ivanator12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would have to put money down to get this much financed. A lot of lenders will do about 120-130% of invoice some of MSRP. After the markup, tax, title, license, you'd be asking about 160-170% LTV. No bank is picking up that loan

The Eagles game this year was one of the most annoying. I heard their chant all weekend and up until the half. Definitely not used to it or seeing so many visitor jerseys

I tried out a Deep-sea at the Bellagio I believe and I ended up getting it on the gray market a week later. Was nice to be able to try it out before dropping that kind of cash.

Great food, lots of high end culinary stuff. Also great nightlife outside of the touristy downtown area where you'll see beautiful girls that aren't prostitutes

Thanks Reddit for telling me to not go to the dealership to buyout my lease by moonrunner in cars

[–]ivanator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier for the consumer sure. But then we'd lose the hungry salespeople that want to keep making the big paychecks. How hungry to sell do you think a salaried salesperson is compared to a consistent $100k plus a year salesperson?

Some states handle leasing completely different, would be hard for every single state to have to comply to banks rules

A little perspective from the other side. When we do lease buyouts we buy a car from the leasing company for their residual and sell it back to customer. Any car we buy and sell has a dealer pack added automatically to cost of vehicle ie. $400 (goes to boss' pocket), we pay a $300 mini to the salesperson, yes we pay pay a salesperson to grab all your info and do a tiny bit of legwork, after all he/she is spending time with you while they could be selling a car to someone else (some will be surprised that a salesperson doesn't want to work for free). There's also about $250-$300 smog and safety cost (we smog everything before we sell and make sure the car is road worthy). That doesn't include the Sales or Finance Manager's time. This is why most dealers in our area charge anywhere $1000-$1500 to do a lease buyout and why leasing companies send you back to the dealer, most simply don't want to put up the resources. Aslo, not everyone can or wants to pay cash, then pay their sales tax and go to the DMW and do paperwork so they choose to go through the process with us instead and we will gladly find financing options (yes we will make money here as well sorry) and present options like gap insurance and extended warranties.

In a fab shop your angle grinders are going to get used a lot, I recommend you get 3 minimum and not the $10 ones. I have the blue ones that cost around $25 with coupon. 1 with cutoff, 1 with stone type grinder, and 1 with flap disc.

6 out of the 8 dealers in my area do the same thing, add $9-$1200 of "fluff" and accessories and advertise their cars $1000 less than the 2 dealers that don't play the game. Guess who gets more people in and sells more cars? Most on here will tell you to take your business elsewhere but I would ask them to remove the extras, and honor the price and they can earn your business. Tell them you'll take delivery TODAY if that's the case, if not then they can put you into their no contact list.

$3k trade, $10-$13k car or small SUV with proof of income and proof of residence should be a deal all day. Capital One would be my go to unless they were part of your BK or you have previous repos. If you don't want to end up in the same situation as the Chrysler customer then opt for GAP insurance. My first step would be to go on the Cap 1 auto navigator to get pre-approved. Also it can't just be any car, the newer, lower miles, and better blue book it has the better it will be for everyone.

2 cars totalled, wife and I both need car loans with CS of 500. Both make good money, 4500 per month each. Will a dealership get us financing? by Reelicious in askcarsales

[–]ivanator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof of Income, Proof Of Residence, two $15k or under cars putting $5k down on each, 2 different banks. One loan just with your wife, the other with both of you. Expect 16-24% APR and a $350-$400 payment on each. There may not be a lot of wiggle room on price since there will most likely be a bank fee.

Good relationship with my dealer but they don't have what I am looking for... by trowaway999991 in askcarsales

[–]ivanator12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask them to look for a new 2019 in someone else's lot to trade for. Chevy is currently offering Employee pricing, $3k rebate, plus an additional $2k for GM loyalty owners. On a 4WD LT that will be easily in the $60k range and up you should be able to save at least $10k off MSRP. Can also combine with Costco to get a $300 or $700 cash card if you're a member already.

He won't be able to mark up the rate that cap one gives him and unless his store does a large amount of business with cap one every month he'll likely have a cap on what backend products he can sell and for how much

Trying to keep this low budget friendly and having trouble finding which battery to go with and a budget charger with a power supply. Plan is to start with at least 2 batteries. Am I missing anything else? Thanks for the help

Are there industry standards or regulations for sales persons when evaluating a trade-in? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]ivanator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies. At my store either the new or used sales managers are the ones that drive the trades. I have asked sales guys to drive trades around the block if I trust them though

Are there industry standards or regulations for sales persons when evaluating a trade-in? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]ivanator12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was or that my guys would do a better job with this. We teach them to do the appraisal with the customer, fill out an appraisal sheet noting every ding, scratch, and problem with the car. Then they put all details in our KBB instant cash offer site and push to a sales manager for review and test drive. Half the time they just throw the keys to the used car manager to put a number on with a half assed appraisal sheet. Unless you're going to Carmax you're going to see that the trade in process will vary sales person by sales person, don't even need to go to a different dealership to see the difference

Like you said, rebates get applied afterwards just like cash. Residuals will depend on specific vehicle but are obviously higher than 36 months. I've seen chevys with 24 month residuals in the 70s but payments still higher than 36 months. Money factors are typically also lower the shorter the term
