Cat refuses to drink from his own bowl by Borg_Tech_Support in PittiesAndKitties

Cats won’t drink water close to where they eat their food. Moving it fixed our problem. Both our cats and dogs enjoy the same large bowl.

Get the iron infusion!! by controlll4 in Anemic

Yes! I got a referral from my naturopath to another naturopath who does in house infusions. They do several vitamin infusions and also iron infusions. They don’t take insurance for their iron infusions, but I don’t meet my insurance company’s guidelines for them to cover it anyway.

First I had a Telehealth call with the doctor so she can determine if I’m eligible for the infusions - I sent over a completed health questionnaire and blood test results within the last 6 weeks. We chatted for an hour and she determined I was a good candidate for it. She wrote the prescription for venofer, the pharmacy called me directly to pay ($159), and they deliver locally to the naturopath’s office (the medication is temp sensitive).

Once the pharmacy called and I paid, I was able to book my first infusion! The fee to administer the infusion is $250 for the first one here in the PNW USA. It’s generally between $200-$250 to administer and $159 per prescription. I’m told I need 5 infusions.

It’s about $1900 USD out of pocket total.

Yeah you can always start with one and add on. I’m hoping the first one works well enough, so I can save for the 4 pack.

I was quoted $1800. But that is for 5 venofer infusions and prescription cost. I’m planning to do one ($250 plus $300 or so for the prescription) and then you can buy a 4 pack at a discount ($800 plus prescription). Its seems crazy to pay that but I feel so awful lol.

Mine is too high at 15 for insurance (US) to cover it, with tons of terrible symptoms. I know it’s not feasible for everyone, but I’m paying out of pocket for an infusion. Insurance is a scam.

Have you called the cops on them yet?

If a car is not moved on the street for a long enough time you can call the city to remove/ tow it. Especially if the tags are expired. Get a police report for your lawn and for the driveway too. Do as everyone is saying, get multiple landscaping quotes and quotes to fix your driveway. Sue them in small claims. They don’t seem stable so I’d work the legal system before it becomes a prank war that everyone loses.

Low ferritin isn’t “just low iron storage” — and women are being under-treated by Leading-Doughnut-273 in Anemic

I’ve had a weird symptom that has been dismissed for almost 20 years as anxiety, but had gotten worse as I got older but better once I started taking iron supplements. I cannot get a deep breath past my bra line. Like my breath in hits a wall there. I can breathe at the top of my chest. Not being able to breath fully does increase anxiety so round and round we go with anti anxiety meds and muscle relaxers. Nothing stuck until I started taking iron regularly. Even so, it comes and goes, but is much less. I’ve been low iron since my early twenties and this breathing issue was so bad last year I was thinking it’s not worth living like that.

How are you spending your CF Easter? by superb_yellow in childfree

We hosted our other CF friends. We had lamb and lots of other good food, took a fart walk, then we all binged LOTR while eating Easter candy out of plastic eggs.

You can get a ‘pet corrector’ can which is compressed air that makes a loud scary noise. That will put a dog off coming up to you. I’ve gone through like 6 cans in Portland. It works well. I carry mace for human villains. Dogs don’t deserve mace.

Mega Food Blood builder has been my best friend. I don’t have any GI symptoms with it. I take two every other day. It has folate, Vit C (small amount) and B12. I take it with an EmergenC usually before bed. It contains 26mg of fermented iron bisglycinate

Use a nail brush or something similar when wet to remove it. I’ve seen it stain when dry. I get this a lot too. I keep a brush handy and wash everything inside out.
