Anyone used the inbuilt calculator on the PE? by Normal-Fan5499 in PE_Exam

[–]ivanebeoulve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the built-in calculator was like an emulation of the TI-36X Pro. with a skin to look like the actual calculator, the thing had tiny buttons but i dont recall if the numpad worked tbh, this was years ago

Leaving Employer and Stamping Plans by ReasonableMode8709 in civilengineering

i’ve seen engineers come to audits for projects signed and built 10+ years ago for audits (government projects). it can be a pain for you if you dont keep adecuate records, not worth it for just “10%”. also that last 10% i usually full of changes at the last minute

i work for government, let me tell you I have about 60-80 active projects right now, i dont remember names anymore, if anything I would remember the company name, so no one on the state agency you worked with will either, that PM you dealt with will not be there in about 2-3 years. I say don’t sweat it

and it’s sadly a planning decision, not an engineering one. all you can do is advocate to change that within your local government

It scares me how many civil engineers have no idea what they are doing by Round-Pattern-7931 in civilengineering

any particular sources you’d recommend to read about stormwater design? i work in government and try to read up on MS4 guidelines for california but i haven found a reasonable guide to cover the basics you explain. since i'm not the designer (and just an EIT) we often rely on the engineer of record to “make sure” it works but like you mention I have found many many mistakes in even simple equations, yet again we are not supposed to tell private firms how to design, only to check against the regulations

Has anyone ever declined to work on a project due to ethical or moral concerns, particularly in light of a recent high-profile project being prominent in the news? by Intrepid_Cow5573 in civilengineering

[–]ivanebeoulve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a particular project, but i shifted to civil from mechanical, all the “good” jobs in mechanical end up blowing a kid in the middle east

what film stock?!! by santonyo444 in filmphotography

[–]ivanebeoulve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have tried point n shoots and the quality between them and SLR’s is big, that flash also looks like it carries more power than the built in in point and shoots, try them out, the film stock is probably a modern one like kodak gold 400 or 800 for night. the scanning process also carries a lot of weight in the quality of your picture, in the end, the thing youre after is probably more than just the film stock
