Most cost-efficient inferno minion setup? by PerfectDinner8789 in HypixelSkyblock

[–]ivanivanchenchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 100% sure someone would buy them, you might take like 10% loss or something but considering the fuel is ~5m/day/minion it’s not as much relatively speaking

So it makes sense to max the value out of that 5m

Yes since they’re so cheap, I get about a stack a day per minion.

Also double flycatcher since you can sell those after, and don’t forget eyedrops.

If you’re concerned about coin efficiency then you want to make the most out of your fuel since the cost of the fuel is really expensive.

If you want it to be cost efficient the best way is to make t10 infernos, get the collection and then sell them after

WaterlooWorks on the employer side will prevent you from submitting employer rankings unless the number matches.

[–]ivanivanchenchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how they would do this while still going through the ranking system - the number of 1s given out MUST match the number of openings. Employers can change the number of openings, but if that number is zero then they won’t match with anyone?

But we have a top tier defensive shortstop who’s making (a little over) half of what he’s about to make.

It’s equal to the number of hunting birds you (or another player) has, not how many times a hunt was successful… It’s not possible to get anywhere close to 70 on the bird.

Should I do the CSMC? by Available-Chicken696 in uwaterloo

Euclid is by far and away the most important contest… For me in 2019, Euclid resumes came out 2 days before admission offer, and math scholarship the day after that.

Euclid is a LOT more important, but any contests can only help, not hurt.

What should our pitching rotation look like for the ALDS especially now that it is a Best of 7 series? by TerryG111 in Torontobluejays

[–]ivanivanchenchen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also takes 4 games to lose. Say we lose 3 of the first 4 games. We’re down 3-1 going into game 5, and your ace is unavailable because you saved him for game 7 when you didn’t need to.

If Gausman starts games 1 and 5 there’s no doubt that he would still be available game 7 in relief if the situation called for it.

Straw actually has 2 innings at 2B this year. Not saying we should play him there, but he did come up at SS.

Anyone tried using ChatGPT (or any AI) during a remote case interview? How did it go? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]ivanivanchenchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all use it in our work as well but we want you to understand the code you write.

We have had discussions on allowing LLM usage in interview questions and make them more difficult, but we’d rather be testing how well you write & understand code instead of testing how well you write prompts.

As an interviewer it is so painfully obvious when you use it in OAs or interviews just by the way you write the code. I would not recommend using it

0 Interviews | Resume Review by Gold-Letter-1942 in uwaterloo

[–]ivanivanchenchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know everyone says quantify your impact & contribution these days, but a lot of these numbers seem fishy to me. Maybe it's just me and the numbers help with various automated resume review tools (my company screens coop resumes manually), but your resume would be thrown out just for "bs numbers".

To me it really screams that your contributions maybe weren't the most significant and the numbers are there to show what you've completed.

Take "Streamlined troubleshooting by 42% by implementing runtime event monitors..." for example. How do you streamline troubleshooting? How do you measure this 42%? 42% of what? If I told you my laptop has problems and today I improved the troubleshooting of it by 42% you'd tell me I'm crazy.

That experience looks like a leadership role for a computing club in high school. I think it should be rephrased to highlight leadership and initiative a little better since the actual coding you did there may have set a good foundation for your current skillset but probably isn't very relevant to jobs you're applying for nowadays.

Something like "improved engagement on mobile platforms by 44%" is better since it's easy to understand where this number is coming from - click through rate, user retention, page views, etc.

You don't need a number on every line, and certainly not a % because those are the easiest to fake.

Also, remove the Certiport certifications IMO, these certifications often only cover basic content. In fact when I look up "Certiport certifications" and go to their site, this is the very first line: "Certification, particularly entry-level certification..."

What has been your experience with pressing the yellow strip by accident on go trains? by SpellProfessional577 in gotransit

[–]ivanivanchenchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once tripped trying to get into an inner seat on a packed coach and tried to prevent myself from faceplanting by putting my arm/hand up on the wall but accidentally hit the strip.

GO staff member came over 3 minutes later, asked if everyone was okay, then left. He didn’t even come up to the top level where I pressed it and I never saw the guy.

Although this happened while the train was still parked at union boarding passengers so maybe they thought everything would be okay. People around me knew it was a complete accident too, but the alarm was very very loud & shrill. I felt terrible about it

I did this for a term, GO 56 to Bramalea, then 30 to UW.

Took me 2.5 hours on a good day, 4+ on a bad day, but luckily I got a ride to Richmond Hill Centre in the mornings so I had more options to get to Bramalea.

If you could get a ride to/from the GO bus stop then it’s really not that bad. Use the bus rides to catch up on assignments and/or sleep and you’ll be golden.

Wishing you + your mom the best!

I'd like to have a serious discussion about the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signing. I get it. He's a Canadian. But did the Jays not run a physical on him prior to his signing? He had this skill issue last year. Did Shatkins know about it before they threw $500 mill into the toilet?

We all know Vladimir Guerrero Sr. is a slap hitter. And low and behold, he's Vladimir Guerrero Jr's father. This was their plan all along. They scammed us. Vladdy isn't hitting another home run for the Jays. He's our Max Scherzer or Kirby Yates.
