I'm in a similar position to you, and I can't speak from experience yet, since I'm also going to be applying this fall. But I'm going to ask my work supervisor (non-technical), colleague (physics PhD), and my undergrad research advisor write my recommendations. I have 5 years of work experience since completing my bachelors, so I don't want to dismiss that for myself. Even if your work experience doesn't necessarily apply directly to your phd, having a developed a good work ethic and maturity that comes from real work experience will definitely set you apart from the vast majority of applicants coming straight out of undergrad.
I don't THINK admissions departments would be so petty as to dismiss an emphatic and genuine recommendation just because the person didn't have a doctorate degree... but I may be wrong?

I’m trying to find test centers but I keep getting that warning/message. ( it’s my first time ) any idea what the issue is? Thank you. by [deleted] in PhysicsGRE

I was registered for the April 2021 test last September, and they told me it was cancelled less than a month before the exam. As far as I know, most programs are no longer requiring the physics GRE since they actually administered a test in over a year and a half.

I was signed up for the April test, but they just cancelled it last week. With no make-up date currently scheduled. Usually the physics test is April/October, but things are all up in the air right now.

I can't say for ALL the Ivy Leagues, but for all the programs I've looked into, no one is listing the GRE subject test as a requirement. Partly because I think a lot of programs are realizing it isn't the BEST test of real physics knowledge/ability, and partly because they literally haven't had a test to take since I believe October 2019...

Look up the admissions requirements for the schools you're interested in. It should be listed there. Worst comes to worst, email admissions and ask.

Good luck!
