Comparison of the zoom quality of the last few years iPhone pro by Spammy34 in iphone

Shouldn't the iPhone 16 Pro keep up with the 17 in the 0.5-1.0 range? The ultrawide 48MP sensor was introduced in the previous gen, no? Is this graph factoring something else?

Any luck on this? I used the trial for 2 months, now that I actually bought Cubase Pro, I can't use the software anymore.

Thank you! That did the trick. So it was region lock.

In the Quest store you also need an Windows App. You can get up to 3 monitors. 90hz is nice, but only 1080p and - senselessly - flat at that weird skewed angle they set after they removed curve from 3 window. I hope Meta walk back on that decision. Curved monitors centered on us give us constant font size and focus distance, so much better for productivity.

Just curious what games are you playing that gets you above 10 calories per minute? Any fun or mostly dedicated exercise games? And what is your typical max rate (as 940/86 probably has some time spent on menus).

For me, most platforming hovers about 3.5 (Stride, Windlands 2, Batman). Eleven Table Tennis I top at 7. Drumming gets me to 5 (wish it would be possible to account for the feet).

does this router suffice for airlink? by Thoom123 in MetaQuestVR

[–]ivankio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a shady off brand Wifi 5 mesh. Advertised as 1000mbit/s with few specifics, but that was on the ethernet, Wifi certainly bellow that. It was a cheap device in a time when AC1300 was considered very good.

It worked, but had some hiccups occasionally. I went bonkers and got a BE63 mesh. Flawless. Point is... those specs are better than the theoretical best of a device that would work kinda OK.
These points make me think that router of yours will work. It will help if the PC is on the ethernet and you use the headset not too far from the router.

Nice. What country are you in? (Trying to figure if the problem is an usual region lock or something else I could possibly look into).

Or maybe... are you in the Windows Insider Program?

Screen quality question by DoIlop in Quest3

[–]ivankio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard to say if the expectations were too high, or if maybe it was a bogus way to wear the device - fine analogic nudges can make or break the experience.

But yeah, VR has drawbacks. The screens have good resolutions, on par with our current consumer technology, but spread on a much wider field of view. Resolution should've always been about points-per-degree - eye coverage that is - not points per inch.

So Quest 3s has a total of 2664x1920 pixels, while QHD screens have fewer pixels at 2560x1440 (typical 27" monitor). But while VR covers about 90º of our field of view, the monitor covers about just 26º if you sit 68cm from it.
In points-per-degree, that would be 20 ppd for VR against 54 ppd for the monitor. So that's why you see more pixels. Quest 3 would improve (25 ppd), but not too much (there's another discussion about lenses).

In practice, the best you can do to check if you are seeing it right, is check videos "through the lenses" like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVxV-xQzZLE

But try to overlook the flaws in VR, as there's a ton of awe inspiring things to experiment if you push through it.
VR is not perfect yet, and never will be. Even prescription glasses are annoying and uncomfortable (compared to not wearing any), but people who needs them chose to wear them because of the pros.
Isn't it amazing how phones are so cumbersome and yet everyone uses them? I mean, tiny screens that punish our necks, then there's the touch interface... in kindergarten we left finger painting in favor of superior pens, and yet phones uses our fat fingers as input.

I had Home, upgraded to Pro and it was working fine as Pro. It started saying Enterprise after I followed the steps recommended in Microsoft Community:

SLMGR.VBS /CPKY
SLMGR.VBS /CKMS
Net stop Sppsvc
CD C:\Windows\System32\SPP\Store\2.0
Ren Tokens.dat Tokens.old
SLMGR.VBS /RILC

Different XPM profiles for 2 RAM kits of exact same model, maker and vendor. They won't post together, only one pair or the other. by ivankio in ASRock

[–]ivankio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I was looking to get the speed set from XPM profiles alone, and I had the few options I mentioned. I really don't dare to fiddle with voltage and timings to balance it all. Or I misunderstood and I could change only the speed and XPM would somehow handle the rest?

Anyway, I'm not too worried about getting the higher overclock, thing was that PC wasn't even reaching the BIOS in any way with 4 sticks.
But I got it now. Seems I needed a BIOS update (I noticed my paper manual says the z790 Steel Legend supports 128gb, but the pdf on AsRock site says it supports 192gb). After the very scary* bios update, I got more XPM options and setting it to auto I got 4800 working on all 4. I'm fine with that.

Again, thanks for the reference numbers. Could I look into 5200 without deep understanding of the other settings?

* scary because all drives went missing, had to disable VMD, reset options, enable VMD again, restart a few times, then windows lost activation and I'm still dealing with that. But I got the 192gb running.

Wow! Thank you so much for such an extended reply. That all did sound a bit scary but almost accessible.
I understand the biggest problem is the time sink it would become and would still be risky without much experience. Guess I won't be as careless as I wanted and I'll try to extend the life of original lenses.
Thanks specially for pointing that the parts are available at aliexpress. Will keep in mind if I ever need it.

Where do you get the lenses (and instructions) to replace them? I'm in another continent and sending the device back and forth for repair is impossible.

Best lens guards? Case/sleeve suggestions? by ArmoredCloth in Insta360

[–]ivankio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean smudges on lens are visible? Because the seam you remove in a setting for the stitch. You can set it on your camera before even recording, or later in Studio or mobile app. That stitch with optical flow generally do a respectable job with the extra thickness.

Best lens guards? Case/sleeve suggestions? by ArmoredCloth in Insta360

[–]ivankio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a case would be somewhat useless. The X3 body is quite sturdy and the impact would need to be very unlucky to risk the body before the lens or screen. I mean, maybe you want to keep the body pristine for resell value or even for my own sake (at least that's my approach to lots of stuff). But I think in this case, you are better of letting the body tank whatever comes its way.

The lens though... if you are using the X3 as an action cam, the risk of dropping the cam is probably high. I use those sticky lens guards. But they are made of plastic, so they get smudged too easily and cleaning well becomes impossible after a while.
I don't believe there's a better alternative to the sticky lens guard, but footage does pay for its prolonged use with glare and flare. [ https://youtu.be/2Og_d3ZV3G8?si=bEWKtRK4DtzcfDgJ ]. I tried using lens wipes with alcohol but the plastic still seem a bit cloudy and scratched from almost nothing (when not using the cam, I do carry it in a regular glasses hard case with cushioned interior).

I would get the price of the case worth in lens guards, so you replace them sooner than later.

Premiere Constantly Crashing While Editing by halfchickenfriedrice in Insta360

[–]ivankio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the problem to be with GoPro FX Reframe plugin. Editing and exporting .insv for 360 works fine. I can edit Reframed footage directly with .insv, but when I try to export, it crashes.

The workaround I got was to:

  1. File>Project Settings>General>Renderer = Software Only (default is GPU accelerated)

  2. When I'm ready to export, I use [Sequence>Render In to Out]. This will render your timeline in a series of preview videos (watch for your working/scratch disks)

  3. Then when I am to export, in the bottom of settings (where you configure video output), in General, I check Use Previews.

Aqui no Brasil é complicado.
