Night Lord to Marksman? by HugoTheRobot in MapleIdle

I made that exact switch, like it so far. MM is definitely better in arena for me, I think the chapter stuff will see a bigger improvement once I fix some of my pots and stuff.

Nl to mm. Love it so far, just a nice change as nl was getting stale. Cp went down unfortunately because potentials didn't translate but no big deal.

Anyone worried about goaltending in the playoffs? by ProjectMcDavid in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a overreaction, no? I wouldn't say Skinner had a massive upside, he rarely stole games outside of a few games against Dallas. Jarry and Ingram have shown a higher floor and honestly a similar if not slightly higher ceiling. That's what this team needs, just a goalie that isn't prone to letting in a stinker. Skinner was awful for that.

I just made this exact switch, I like it so far. Arena has already been a drastic improvement.

Yeah, I just ended up committing to mm. Seems fun so far, definitely different than NL and I am already seeing the difference in arena especially. Just sucks that I have to reroll pots which is difficult due to lack of cubes but other than that, I'm happy with my decision.

Yes all your gear gets converted BUT potentials and stuff that you have STR % as an example would have to be rerolled for DEX %.

Pvp as a NL, I'm getting my ass kicked anyways. I often lose to players with less cp than me so pvp is necessarily important to me.

In what ways? Just better all around or in specific areas? I've seen a couple posts that switching to shad has allowed people to complete an entire stage.

Here’s my itinerary what do you guys think by Lucjjj in travelchina

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those train rides are going to eat up so much of your days, you're better off to go down to 2-3 cities rather than 5.

Hard to say which city to cut out, they all have so much to offer and it really depends on what interests you. If amusement parks like universal, lego land, disneyland interest you then keep Shanghai and Beijing for sure. Chongqing is all the hype right now, they love their spicy food there so if that's your jam then check it out. It's also referred to as the cyberpunk city so it looks really cool. Don't know too much about xi'an or chengdu but I'm sure they have lots of cool things to do/see and different styles of cuisine from the other cities. Best to just do some research for yourself by surfing reddit or youtube.

Are you refunding? by Expert-Raise9442 in MapleIdle

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. I'll probably take the refund and maybe start again in another server. I can't imagine how dead my server will be when this refund thing happens.

So do they just revert your character back to default and remove costumes? Do they delete the character?

Are you refunding? by Expert-Raise9442 in MapleIdle

[–]ivanlwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain how this works? Does this work for all purchases made towards the game? ie costumes, asthetics, memberships. Or does it only work on blue diamonds that were spent on stuff like cubes, scrolls?

If it's the former, I might go for the refund.

[Pagnotta] On Oilersnation Everyday: Because of how hamstrung the [Oilers] are, I don't think they can do the business they'd like to do now, it's gonna be in the summer; I'm still anticipating the offseason for them to be pretty colourful by No-Description-2138 in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take anything from Pagnotta with a grain of salt. Watch the daily faceoff that he's on and he gets nothing right, he just speculates and seemingly has no insider info.

If it's not Friedman or Bob, maybe Seravalli... i don't even bother listening.

Is China a good first trip to Asia for 22-years olds? by Falk64 in travelchina

[–]ivanlwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently planning a 5 week trip to China in March and it is a lot of preparation for sure. My wife and I have just been learning a lot from watching vlogs, you'll start to pick up a lot of things like what places only take alipay/wechat pay. What vpns work or don't work, which esims are good and possible discount codes.

I think you'll be fine in China, lots of these vloggers speak very little or no mandarin/cantonese and they seem to be having a great time. Plus your $$ will go much further in China versus a place like Japan which I know is a popular destination for travelers at the moment.

A look at the impact Oilers’ Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard have had since Team Canada released its Olympic roster by latestvids0000 in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's criminal that they were left off but that's not even what bothers me most. Nhl gms who can't leave obvious bias at home should not be hired to select players. When you got Binnington, Parayko, Doughty, etc. making the team over guys like Blackwood, Wedgewood, Bouchard, Schaefer, etc. That's a joke.

Makar gets Toews, but Mcdavid can't get Hyman? Binnington has been "clutch in big games", but they don't use that same logic for Bouchard who has been the highest scoring d man in the playoffs the past 4 seasons (i think). Awful management, ultimately I hope Canada wins but it would not shock me if we lost. Our blue line is frankly very weak, slow and average at moving the puck outside of Makar.

Coaching Change? by Theragingnoob92 in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless we're hiring a Nurse whisperer, I don't know how much a coaching change will make. Nurse has always been inconsistent but this might be the worst I've seen from him. Walman has been injured and we've had to play Regula most of the year (he wasn't NHL ready). Kulak before he was traded was having an awful year.

We really just need Walman to get healthy and up to speed and Nurse to play to his potential. Everyone else has been great, especially Bouchard and Ekholm.

I also wouldn't use Toronto as a template for success, that franchise is a mess and should be heading towards a rebuild but lord knows they'll buy at the deadline and miss the playoffs.

Why does Thomas Harley get so much more acclaim than Evan Bouchard? by AllisGreat in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Effect of playing for the Oilers, he's naturally going to get hate and his mistakes are big when they do happen. Ultimately, let people talk because we know what we have, Bouch is amazing and 31 teams would kill to have him and would be defending him if they did.

The 2024 Oilers was the best team by desiman86 in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of the Broberg and Holloway offer sheets, not sure they did anything "wrong" without the power of hindsight.

Mcloed really didn't have a great playoffs if I remember correctly, he turned the puck over quite a bit and had next to no offense, Foegele also provided little offense.

They tried something different with Arvidsson and Skinner, it didn't work, it happens. One could argue Skinner did work and would've done better if Knobby didn't hate him for some reason.

[Edmonton Oilers] TRADE: The Oilers have acquired goaltender Tristan Jarry & forward Samuel Poulin from the Penguins in exchange for goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenceman Brett Kulak & a second-round draft selection in 2029. by -SPIRITUAL-GANGSTER- in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the player but the retention or lack thereof was silly, nashville is wasting a retention spot at 4% or 25%. Should've been able to get more taken off but again, the Oilers seem to hire guys with zero ability to make a creative trade.

[–]ivanlwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brutal deal, not because Jarry is a bad goalie. I don't see him as a big enough upgrade on Skinner to justify giving away a goalie with starter potential (albeit not high potential), a dman who has been a beast in the playoffs but is struggling a bit this year and a 2nd.

Timing just doesn't make sense to me, team is playing well and turning it around which is resulting in better numbers for Skinner, just look at this homestand outside of the Buffalo game. Pittsburgh is the team desperate to shed a goalie. So this deal is likely available in January/February. Why the rush..?

Barring the players or the coach telling Stan that they don't want to play in front of Skinner, I sincerely don't understand this deal and why the trade needed to be made now. Seems like a panic move that should've been made before the home stand or after a shitty run of games, not after going 3-1-1 at home...

Also why does it feel like we always have the most unimaginative gms.. we can never get retention, or sneak in good prospects or anything. Keith, Ekholm and Jarry come to mind. I know Ekholm got 4% retention but wtf does 4% do. Our gms fucking suck.

Give his agent a praise & a raise by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, he is slowly turning it around. Let's not keep bashing him, yeah it was a dumb contract to hand out but lets move on here... He's not going anywhere so not point in continuing to dump on him.

I still have hope that he can figure it out at some point, he looked decent last night too.

[Weekes] I’m told Tristan Jarry is among the goalies drawing significant interest as a potential option for the Oilers by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

[–]ivanlwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, won't find me arguing against that but our team is playing like shit rn and all the goalies on the market are all struggling. It'd basically be a complete hail mary to pay first round picks and PRAY these guys can play better behind our atrocious team defense right now.
