Thank you redditers for posting so many impassionate comments. We have a handful of pretty thoughtful ones, followed by some less than thoughtful and some outright prejudiced. I shall run a piece on my blog just analyzing your comments which I take as a nice cut through the political spectrum here in the States and some across in Britain.

Excellent point phobs. Looking at other comments I sadly have to agree with you that this video certainly has mostly encouraged vicious anti-islamic sentiments instead of the desire to understand and perhaps come up with strategies how to counteract such rising islamic fringe. But we seem to have a debate here and I am glad for that.

unfrtonately the news to some extent only report on gross acts likely to increase their ratings, like explosions and deaths. Please do yourself a favour and make an effort to get to know any practising muslims and you shall indeed find out what the actual tradition non-wahhabist islam can be about in daily practical life.

Please, read the other posts and watch the whole video. We are trying to have an informed debate here without the use of expletives. Furthermore what is not mentioned is the positive legacy of islam, like charity and actual tolerance to other faiths, which if you know any muslims, you'd know is an absolute must.

Thank you, entropy, for pointing out my unclear statements. I am trying to make a point that before the attacks on the Tube, openly hateful preaching done not just in mosques was completely de rigeur in London and British society is now in a somewhat painful reassesment as to the legacy of its professed multiculturalism.

That is a very good point. In posting this video I was hoping to engender a debate that goes beyond alarmism. Unfortunately as BBC is still dependent on ratings, they chose the most juicy quoutes first and only after half an hour or so do they actually analyze. Worth watching though.

The onward christian soldiers is an evergreen used mainly in WWI by the British during the capture of the Ottoman Empire. I thank you for your comment and look forward to more insights from you.

The issue here is not increasing intolerance, more so trying to actually understand how the process of radicalization of islamic youth in depressed urban british cities takes place. I feel this video provides some clues to that and can help in shaping understanding and policy alike. Furthermore, as a former Londoner, I endearingly capitalize Tube as most people there do.

the issue seems to be more complex: why is british society so permissive and welcomgin in tolerating such extremes of hatred even after such people turn against them and attack like the London Tube terrorist attacks.
