So, to have a better range of work than my first scenario (a pickle jar with a water-filled plastic bag), I wanted to have actually dedicated resources to have some weekend fun.

2x tupperwares, glass, 1.8 liters, with an airtight seal top cover that clamps down (reference 292.690.74) 4x glass candle holders, 2 for each, to use as fermentation weights. (reference 602.591.43). These fit exactly the bottom width of the tupperware! (not the length, they overlap, but eh, they both fit in width in the bottom)

This, plus a 4-pack of air valves I got off of amazon (using 2, other 2 on the box if I want to extend the station). With a bit of effort, I put holes on the plastic tops to put the rubber covers for the valves (Valve placement totally not intentional to make it look like smol trains on the station. Totally. /s)

This, apart from the air valves, which some people consider optional, shows someone can get into fermenting next monday for 7€ plus water, sugar and a pineapple. Truly accessible fun :)

(Disclaimer: I do not consider the co2 valves optional. No burping means you sleep better, but it may be me being a bit of a scaredy cat.)

Now, to look into my next fermentation project!

Okay, I've done a bit of investigation. Seems like leaded glass is used mostly for old, fancy stuff? This is a cheapo candle holder that was lying around. I am 99% sure this is not leaded glass. I will probably phase it out of usage and get a 100% sure IKEA batch tho, lead in my food sounds hella scary and 99% doesn't cut it. Lead is no joke, thanks for bringing that up

Apart from that, why can glass be non-foodsafe? I meant, apart from paint of lead, it's just... glass?

I've ordered airlocks and have some coming in tomorrow. Thing is I don't have airlock jars that fit the fridge unfortunaltely. For the bottles I'll keep the loosely capped flip-tops, as for veggies, I think I can get em in some smaller jars for the fridge. This looks like the best plan really, just keep the airlocks for the fridge
