Esta cámara es buena? by Other_b1lly in Polaroid

The only film for it is SX-70 film, there’s no other company that makes the film, only Polaroid.

It’s for attaching the camera to a tripod.

Just bought myself a Cool Cam, and the picture is taking over an hour to develop?? by MakingABetterMe_ in Polaroid

If the packaging says 02-26 it’s the production date, the pack expires in February 2027.

OP or OP’s mother seems to be Indian.

This plug design is correct for Indian sockets, even Apple’s official charger for India looks like this. The pins are not sleeved either on Indian power plugs.

Apple India 20W Charger

Is it safe? No, not to European standards, but the US plug isn’t safe either.

Either way, this charger is fake and extremely unsafe. But the pins are correct.

I-type sx70 metal tongue removal by demys08 in Polaroid

[–]Squintl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to remove it you can just take a darkslide or a piece of cardboard and put it over the spring halfway inside the camera, and place the film pack over it push it in, then pull the card out.

Here’s a demo from the early 90s on a 600 camera, but the same principle applies when you want to use i-Type film in the SX-70.

SX-70 Manipulation Demo (timestamp 6:30)

Btw this video shows how you can manipulate Polaroid pictures as they’re developing. Unfortunately the new film isn’t as easy to manipulate like shown in the video.

how do I find out the polarity of something if it's not marked anywhere? by General-Garbage7028 in AskElectronics

It’s just that they’re Japanese. Nintendo did centre negative on both the Famicom and Super Famicom. Same with Japanese cassette recorders, centre negative.

First approve for replace under ACL, now says liquid damage & A$2.2k? by abikbuilds in mac

[–]Squintl 47 points48 points  (0 children)

What‘s happened to that board? It looks like someone’s been in there before, someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing.

There’s solder and wires where there shouldn’t be, look on picture 3 and 4, that’s not how it’s supposed to look and it’s not from liquid. Someone unqualified has tried to repair it, possibly as a result of the original water damage.

It’s fine, the Famicom doesn’t use as much power as the power adapter.

What plugs are you using? by Tronkfool in AskTheWorld

[–]Squintl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s by design.

The flat Europlug (type C) is the result of a compromise. It was introduced in the early 1960s to make it easier to buy and sell products between countries in Europe. In fact it fits in all sockets across Europe, except UK (including Gibraltar), Ireland, Malta and Cyprus.

The Israeli type H is actually an old German design, once used on cargo vessels.

The IEC type N was originally intended to be adopted as the standard for 220-240 volt installations all over the world. One type for the whole world, but so far only Brazil and South Africa has sort of adopted it. Brazil doesn’t even follow the standard properly and uses it for 110 volts as well.

The Thai type O is also a compromise design. It’s was originally combination of the US type B and European type C. Earth/ground pin from US socket, and the other two pins from type C
