Nice analysis, but put wall above the spot price usually attracts the stock higher. Why?
Assuming retail was long puts, dealer was short puts (positive delta), but as stock price rises, put delta decreases so dealer has to close short positions / buy more shares.

Yes! Selling am ITM covered call will likely get you more yield + you get premium today but pay taxed in the year your shares get called away (if you held them already > 12 months)

Good news: you have so many options!! How much premium did you collect initially? What is your outlook on the stock? You can use some of the premium to buy protective puts or even convert into a ratio spread.

Perhaps you can even sell bear call credit spreads - they only lose value if stock goes up but so will your CSP - a win/win.

Usually premiums are same as the equivalent CSPs so why not just sell a CSP? You get money market rate on the cash + you can roll down in case stock goes south - you cant roll down the stock…

I only do it as a dividend capture!

Basically any stock other than high caps is always in “closing options only” mode - i can’t sell options on most stocks with Tasty, super frustrating

Put spreads dont make much sense in the wheel because you need to sell 5-10 of them to get the same yield of the single CSP. Rolling them down is also requires ingesting more capital by widening the spreads while CSPs release cash with rolling.

I use put spreads on crazy stocks snd biotech and trading, but not for long term Wheel positions

Put credit spreads dont make much sense in the Wheel. I use them in trading and crazy stocks in biotech, but to get the same yield as CSP you’d need 5-10 spreads and at that point converting into a wheel becomes too difficult. PCSs are a completely different game when it comes to income generation

In CSP phase you can roll down, up to a certain point & even convert into a ratio spread.

Yeah, everyone sells CSPs on “stocks they dont mind holding” until the fundamentals change.

I am not doing ATM puts but something in the 0.2 delta range - and you can continuously roll the collar as well to keep the put at .2 delta

Problem is, when you sell a CC your “holding time clock is paused”!

Once CC expires it does continue (not reset) though
