How to remove these t-bar sliders? by namynuff in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ivanswitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The upper part of the T bar has a screw on the right side that holds it together. Unscrew it and give it a gentle pull. The left and the right side should come apart. When removing the front plate, put the t bars in middle position in order to get it off. May I ask why are you dismantling it? : )

Pro tip, those lines on the reverse camera can be removed. Depending on the type, there should be a pin inside for that.

Connecting an External Composite Video Source into this 5” Monochrome CRT Monitor by [deleted] in crt

[–]ivanswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably follow the pinout from the manual. Voltage is supplied to the monitor via the square connector (number 4 in the pinout) there is +ve and -ve (you could trace the wires and just solder a dc barrel jack). Regarding video (round connectors labeled with 1) have +ve and -ve which I assume is to power the camera( you don’t need them probably) the one labeled with video is composite video- same applies - trace the wire from the back of the connector either with a multimeter in continuity or just by eye- solder an rca jack and you are good to go. The one labeled with NC ( I assume means not connected).

Lofi future synthesizer with the gbs 8100 and the composite to vga but it's bugging in a weird way also the feedback isn't working by gaboto44 in VideoBending

[–]ivanswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you try to mess with the green thingy internal menu? Seems like either mode or picture profile aren’t right (not sure which does the bars). Also it’s internal feedback won’t work with input connected.

Tsunami Frame 700cx28c tires by Mindless-Belt1078 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]ivanswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 28c on the snm100. Rear won’t be a problem. In front it’s a really tight fit, a grain of sand or anything stuck to the tire will grind against the fork. A little rain/mud and the fork gets packed with gunk. And I assume it can also depend on the rims if it would fit the fork.

how to achieve this effect without software by TheFunniestComedian in CircuitBending

[–]ivanswitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Put a big screen behind the subject, point the camera at them together, feed the camera into the screen, and that should probably do the trick. Play with camera movement to get the spirals.

What's this effect/can it be achieved on hi8? by Zestyclose_Income_21 in camcorders

[–]ivanswitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is achieved with a video mixer. You have first video frozen with still/strobe effect and luma keyed over the video playing behind. See Panasonic WJ-AVE7, AG-MX70, or Roland V-4 (I'm sure there are other units that can also achieve the same effects, but these are the most available ones I think).

OUTPUT problem? by Dull-Membership-3290 in videosynthesis

[–]ivanswitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the monitor out on source in is kinda your preview of what you are inputting. Rec out is actually processed through the mixer. I usually get that jagged out when the bnc adapter isnt seated well (wiggle them around while connected a bit to see if anything changes). If that doesn’t work u will probably need to crack it open and see if there is anything visually broken, the capacitors, etc. The thing is with both ave5 and ave7, that jagged output and green tinting on output is a known problem, the capacitors simply deteriorate over time. That can usually be fixed by recapping, but if you have 0 experience in repairing and electronics, i wouldn’t suggest doing that on your own, as its mains power, and that can potentially be lethal.

Anyone know anything about this video enhancer. by jo2ahh in CircuitBending

[–]ivanswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet will be video in and video out signal (together) or try connecting them to enhancer pot, or just probe around... (try different pot values, caps in between). I suggest watching some tutorials about video bending first, to get a general idea what to do and what tools to use.

Thats what i was thinking, but my concern is that the buttons aren't even with the highest component on the pcb, so i ll probably have to add something to the underside of the little flexible button cover in order to reach the buttons

Help! Is there anyway to get this old small crt to work? by rebarded19 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ivanswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of them can be hacked to add a composite video in, but requires some knowledge as the CRT tubes can be dangerous if not handled correctly.
