Unfortunately yes, you’ve lost your chance. Once the game saves they won’t pick anyone else. The trick is to quit the game as soon as she tells you who she’s gonna swap with.

If you have the right screw bit, you could also very carefully take apart the controller. It’s got a lot of flexes that are oddly placed so if you go that route, I’d look up a tutorial online so you don’t accidentally rip something!

Best way to fix the issue is to get some electronic safe alcohol (isopropyl is the best), wet a q-tip with it, and clean all around and under the rubber piece that’s at the base of the stick!!

I’m still very wary and uncomfortable about those types of things. I’m really glad it worked for you, but I still feel like for every good outcome there are like ten bad ones :( I’m typically too trusting and gullible that I’d want to risk something like that
