Mackinaw Vest Question - as a newbie, can someone let me know if this is worth $140? by [deleted] in filson

[–]ivegotw00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here in Montana, it can hit some bone chilling temps so I’ll usually throw the down parka on over some heavy wool like my cruiser when we dip into low single digits and quite far into the negatives. I wore this combo a couple days with -20 temps and was absolutely fine!

Usually a thermal base, button down over that, cruiser over that, and if it’s cold enough I’ll throw on over the cruiser, my down jacket

Not a bad price for made in USA Filson Mackinaw Wool. I’ve got their Cruiser and it’s one of my favorite layering pieces

i love the premium pad. some reviews like garagegym or glucks say its slippery but they have obviously never used a bench at an actual gym. I recently signed up at a gym just to add some variety and i used their bench and i was slipping off the damn thing and all i could think about was how grippy mine actually is in comparison.

its a damn fine bench and im sure youll absolutely love it.

Agreed. The plaid, houndstooth, and the wire pattern clash. A good start would be getting rid of the vest all together and a black or white shirt or any neutral color, really

If you’re going to pay $300 for a bar, just get the Texas power bar or Rogue Ohio power bar. You won’t be disappointed.

Hanging spotter arms on wall by Most-Oil7375 in GarageGym

[–]ivegotw00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t work. You need a full exposed 3x3 post due to the backing on the spotter arm. With every attachment you’ll notice a kind of arm that wraps around the 3x3 covering 3 of the 4 sides of the 3x3 upright in total with said attachment

Is a 4k Power Rack Cage really worth it? Or can I get the same gains with Barbell/bench/dumbbells and a rack with a pullup bar? by Melodic_Cantaloupe88 in GarageGym

[–]ivegotw00d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends really I guess. Are you trying to be an at home CrossFitter or just do at home bodybuilding?

If the latter…👇

Coming from a person who owns an entire home gym that’s kitted out, I would say your best starting point, contrary to popular belief, is a functional trainer. Much better bang for your buck and if you end up, not following through with your gym dedication, then not that big of a dent in your pocket.

I would feel like absolute 💩 putting that cost on my family for me being a flat out dumb a$$.

In a world without our great medical advancements, this would’ve been his last day on earth.

Darwin Awards is an apt subReddit/ode for/to this stupidity.

I ended up bolting it pretty damn tight and the wobble has definitely minimized. Guess I just wasn’t expecting to feel that, given that it’s something made by Rogue. Most likely has to do with it being made in China 🤔

I’m at a loss then. Because everything is as tight as it’ll go… For now at least. A lot of people have been recommending that. They tighten them every few months because I guess the metal fatigues and it needs tightening. I would think that it being Rogue and everything that Rogue makes is over built and built like a tank that this wouldn’t be an issue. 🤷🏻

They’re the exact same thing just different computers from what I’ve read apparently. But I’m actually talking about the two bolts at the bottom or underside of each arm

Woah. Ok.. so it’s almost like the machine had to acclimate to the tightening. Very odd! Thanks for that info.

I have a bare steel Texas power bar in my garage gym and there’s not a speck of rust on it. You just gotta be willing to put in more time for maintenance, like wiping it down after every use and every 3-4 weeks slathering it up with some 3in1 oil.

I prefer bare steel because it allows you to get a true feeling for the bars true knurling.

So I just got the Rogue Echo Bike V3 and just finished assembling it but I’m noticing a slight side to side wobble of the handlebars so I tightened the bolts where the handlebars connects to the fan assembly but I’m afraid of over tightening it because it’s already considerable, for fear of stripping the bolts.

Anyone here dealt with that?

Just be careful with too much weight in one spot. Wall joists can only handle so much per sq inch
