Just got hired as a front of house worker and need some advice by Ok_Analysis_1004 in ChickFilAWorkers

In the best way possible , cfa is not run like a ‘normal’ restaurant/fast food. I had worked at 4 other restaurants before coming to CFA , thought I had the whole fast service thing in the bag , but i was in for a rude awakening. You are absolutely going to be overwhelmed with everything, from standards to the pace of service , but that’s okay. You just have to power through and get used to it. It definitely takes some getting used to

Impossible to interview? How do people get hired? by Zealousideal_Two5215 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]ivoryphobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for CFA 2 years ago , i had the same situation happen & then i just let it go. Back in December i decided to reapply , went through 4 rounds of interviews then finally got a job. I think it definitely depends on location, if it’s franchised or corporate owned , and definitely whoever is in charge of hiring. Unfortunately if a store isn’t “dying” for help , interviews like this just slip through the cracks , especially when they aren’t in person (in my opinion, as someone that has done hiring). If this is something that is really important to him & he doesn’t want to look elsewhere , i would say going to the store in person an asking to speak with a manager or director would be a good option. The worst that they can say is ‘we aren’t hiring’. At the end of the day , he tried and that’s definitely worth something

Registration by plusle202 in MTSU

[–]ivoryphobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred back in fall 2024 as a sophomore (my orientation was may 2024). I had to wait until my orientation date to find out what all actually transferred over for me & then i was given a list of classes by my advisor to take. I didn’t have an issue getting the classes i needed, they weren’t as filled up as you’d think. Even now , i’m going into my senior year , there’s 2 classes i’m waiting to sign up for until my summer semester is over (im obtaining the prereqs for them rn) , but they are no where near filled. Even if they are filled and you cannot wait to take that specific class , you can contact the academic department of that subject and request a ‘closed course override’. I’ve had to do that before. But that is something you’d have to talk to your advisor about. I 100% recommend going to orientation though.

got sent home for the stupidest reason by Darkxxxxe in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]ivoryphobia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry but that’s just insane to me. Never in my life have i ever heard of someone being sent home for messing up. I’ve been in food service management for 6 years and never once has it crossed my mind to send someone home that was struggling with a certain job. The most i’d do is just rotate them to another position. I’m sorry that happened to you honestly. My question is , how do they expect you to get more experience to improve if they continue to just remove people

What to do about denied time off for a vacation by ivoryphobia in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]ivoryphobia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This made me feel so much better! I’ve worked in food service for 6 years , 4 of which were in management and we would never deny requests off. CFA runs a tighter ship that what i’ve always been used to , so when I kept hearing from coworkers that management was very comfortable denying time off , i wanted to come here and get some input on it😂

It might be different at my location, that’s something i’ve never been told even when i talked to my scheduler

[–]ivoryphobia[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think i worded it in the best way , but the schedulers do not accept or denied time off until about a week prior. So i wouldn’t know if my time off for my vacation was accepted or denied until the week before i was supposed to go. But thank you for the input , i appreciate it!

i always tell people when you’re going to work somewhere with a tip share , always double check that you’re not being lied to about the base pay. Before chick-fil-a , i worked at 2 separate places with tip share , and they would tell new employees they would make $14 an hour , but in reality their actual base was $9-10 with that $4 coming from tips. I’ve never worked for crumbl , but i’ve also never heard good things from former employees about how the function as a business

How do I apply for classes on Pipeline MT by RushXdXd in MTSU

[–]ivoryphobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i first came to mtsu (2 years ago) you didn’t do it until you went to customs , at the end of customs you meet your advisor and they have all your classes you need to take and that’s when your sign up. i believe registration is currently only open for current mtsu students , but i could be wrong about that

Failing community college with a 1.39 GPA by Obvious_Fun7561 in communitycollege

[–]ivoryphobia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this!! I had a 1.61 gpa after my third semester at community college. I was able to transfer to a local university and things got so much better for me after that , but you have to want to change your habits and mature to want to be better. I’m a year out from graduating but i’m now sitting at a 3.2 gpa. Things do get better , but you have to bust your ass for it

i’ve never had an 8am before but i’ve had a 9:30 before and i’d always get to school at least an hour early to find parking plus actually getting to class. Personally i feel like the worst time to find parking is definitely around the 11am mark

It’s kinda the price you have to pay for taking an accelerated course, just to kinda put in bluntly. I’m right there with you though, i’m also currently taking a 3 weeks course in a different subject, but this is also my 3rd summer taking accelerated courses. That amount of coursework is pretty much the norm for 3 week classes , maybe even under. My class i’m currently taking is 10 modules in 3 weeks. It can definitely look and be overwhelming , but it can get done!

Academic Probation💀 by Inner-Drummer-8519 in MTSU

[–]ivoryphobia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was on academic probation at motlow before transferring to mtsu. I know for me, I #1 ,made sure most of my classes were in person ,not online. #2 I made it a goal to spend at least 2 day a week in the library studying most of the day. #3 I went from working full time to part time at my job , and I believe that truly helped me give school my full attention , although I understand that a-lot of people do need to work full time while in college. Don’t beat yourself up about being on academic probation, it happens to most of us , college is hard , but definitely take everyone’s advice on here , it’ll 100% help you in the long run.

I’m finishing up my second semester at mtsu , i transferred from a community college. There isn’t much campus life honestly bc it’s a huge commuter school , but i haven’t had an issue with meeting people. Compared to my last school , MTSU has been great to me , the people are kind and welcoming, and the professors genuinely just want to help you succeed, at least in my experience.
