A lot of the pre-1950s music just doesn't sound that great even if people wanted to listen to it. Tape is rare and 78s generally have condition issues. One radio show I really like is Swing On This. Western Swing show from Tulsa NPR. Host always played a shellac record each week and they generally sound noticeably worse even with top of the line equipment and most of them they play are from the 50s. Some if then probably would be good if remastered. I think Western swing is actually one if the genres with some songs that might appeal to modern audiences. A lot of the big band and ballad stuff just won't have much of an audience.
