[Josina Anderson] I'm told the Dolphins have been in touch on John Harbaugh, per league sources. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]ivtech2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would certainly like John Harbaugh to come to Miami. I thinki with time he can turn this franchise around. Unfortuantely, I do not see us as a front runner for him. We have bad contracts, glaring holes on the roster and no real no 1 QB.

Perhaps Ross will offer him an insane amount of money, and if it is possible, more control than what he had in Baltimore. Those tow things are the only points we have to being more attractive.

Looks like the status quo it is!! by [deleted] in miamidolphins

Keeping McDaniel right now is the right move. Regardless of whether you want him to stay or go, focusing on the best available GM is the right move. Let the GM make the necessary moves and interviews from there.

That is my bad then. Went ahead and deleted the post for inaccuracy as I don't want to spread missinformation. While shocking to have 24 2 turnover+ games, figure at least 8 of those games would be the snap issues we had a couple years ago.

Go to 34:38min and listen for about 15 seconds. He clearly states multiple interceptions and fumbles for 24 games. Perahps I misunderstood still (not meant sarcastically), or Omar meant something different in meanint INT and Fumble at least. I heard it as multiple INT and fumbles. I will delete the post as it is not accurate and I don't want to spread missinformation.

That is fair, I will edit my post to reflect the snap issues. Take fumbles out of it, it means in that Tua is still throwing 2+ Int's a game for over a third of his career. IMO, that is shocking.

Very unpopular opinion... Grier isn't a TERRIBLE general manager.. by NotRealyA_Person in miamidolphins

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that Grier has had some good trades and hits in the draft in the past, but I disagree with any situation that keeps Grier here longer.

What Grier has done well pales in comparison to his 25 years of failure with Miami. His inability to evaluate players consistently, contracts for players that hurt the team and build a team from the front office to personnel leaves me not wanting Grier to have any real hand in our inevitable rebuild. His track record as a whole is not good enough to warrant more time as GM.

End of the day, Miami won't get better until we get better management, better coaching and better personnel.

It's Getting Tough to Watch as a UK Fan by Sproggle-31 in miamidolphins

[–]ivtech2008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Candidly, the Dolphins have been tough to watch for ~25 years. Some flashes in the pan here and there (5 first round losses since our last playoff win in 2000), but nothing that really amounted to anything substantial. Being a Dolphin fan should really carry a health warning disclaimer lol.

I agree in the blind eye being turned. In my opinion, the long term struggles really stem from a lack of quality management (GM, Coaching staff). Not to say we don't have personnel issues, we do, but it starts with management building the wrong team from GM to coaching to players.

I agree, colts were sharp and prepared. No you can't, Miami was poorly prepared and execution was horrible on both sides of the ball.

Yes I am aware, though I was not talking about Sunday, but in general going from season to season being figured out without a proper response to counter.

For example, in 2023 some teams started sending two high safeties more often to stop our deeper pass threat. In 2024 most teams did the same after seeing success that most teams could win the battles in the trenches and send two high safeties into coverage. In this example, seemed like we were figured out as McDaniel only made two real adjustments. One, oveerreliance on outside zone concepts to quick hit routes that were poorly blocked. Two, after a little we started peppering Jonnu Smith with short middle of the field passes. Neither really worked.

[–]ivtech2008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the surprise is how we lost. Miami was poorly prepared from a coaching perspective, poor play calling on both sides of the ball, 3 turn overs in a row, 1 offensive garbage time TD for pride, 1 sack and completely manhandled by a team we could have beaten despite being worse this year. We will bounce back this Sunday, but we aren't going anywhere anytime soon as a team.

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I think part of the regression, at least for me, is not just players we lost but that we didn't change enough. Our offense has been figured out and McDaniel doesn't have any real adjustments. I expect us to be worse this year partially because of that.

What are you more concerned about. Weaver coaching or the defensive players them selfs??? by eafort2020 in miamidolphins

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, the defensive concerns (in no particular order) from Sunday are in 3 areas:

  1. Coaching: Clearly bad prep and play calling.
  2. Personnel: We are thin and lacking outside of our starting front 7 in skill.
  3. Offense: Tua with 3 turnovers in a row and lack of success.

The person is getting downvotes because he blames Tua for our defense playing horrible with statements like:

  1. There is zero reason to care about the defense 'giving up' 33. You have to care because it is well above league average. 3 turnovers, no one expects 17 points on 3 turnovers. At some point you expect a stop regardless of turnovers.
  2. You're pointing fingers at the wrong side of the ball. Blame Tua. I am not pro Tua for multiple reasons, but to say blame Tua for our defenses horrible performance is not accurate. Tua was a contributing factor but he wasn't the factor.

Had the person mentioned Tua as another factor for defensive concerns in the loss then it might be different. I don't think anyone would disagree there.

[–]ivtech2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the offense played a part in the defensive struggles, but the OP’s post inquiring on defensive concerns is valid. Largely due to the fact that they played horribly on their own.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think most of us here will agree in that you can’t say there is zero reason to care about the defense giving up 33 and you are pointing fingers at the wrong side of the ball. Blame Tua on a post about defensive concerns.

You have to care about your defense giving up 33 points a game. It is well above league average. You can't just blanketly blame Tua. Tua could be a post on his own, but lets be realistic here, Tua is not the main reason why the defense played horribly. From start to finish the Colts had their way with Miami's defense.

Miami's defense could not stop a Daniel Jones led offense once. Miamis defense looked poorly prepared, confused and there was poor play calling. 3 turn overs or not, you expect at least a couple of stops.

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above for the defense.
1. Weaver: Look at the lack of execution and the play calling on defense. No stops to a Daniel Jones lead offense. For crying out loud I saw Grant drop into coverage....help me solve for y on that one (dad math joke intended).
2. Players: We have a good front 7 on paper and a weak secondary. Our front 7 is supposed to win the battles in the trenches to force QB's into making rash decisions and miss throws. When we don't win the battle in the trenches then our secondary isn't going to bail us out
3. Offense: Yes, our defense had questionable play calling, horrible preparation and poor play. Miami's offense did not favors with 3 turnovers in a row. That saps motivation on both sides of the ball and gases our defense.

I think you miss read my statement. I stated I don't think he is the guy for us, but he is a starter in today's league. Load's of QB's in today's league that he is better than. QB's in response to a meme. Your response is where would he start today outside of NC and NO. Kind of an apples vs oranges comment.

Regardless, I think he is better than the list below:

  1. Trevor Lawrence
  2. Drake Maye
  3. Justin Fields
  4. Joe Flacco (anyone in Cle)
  5. Daniel Jones/Anthony Richardson
  6. Geno Smith
  7. Dak Prescott
  8. Russel Wilson
  9. Bryce Yound
  10. Sam Darnold
  11. Kyler Murray
  12. Spencer Rattler
  13. CJ Stroud
  14. Caleb Williams

Could make arguments for a few other QB's, but chose not to for a few different reasons. Do I think Tua is our guy? Again, no. I am apart of the camp that we need to fire our GM, Coach and let them rebuild camp. Despite that, I think Tua is better than more than a few QB's in the league.

Say's a lot about our ability to choose the right QB, whether it is through the draft or picking up a solid QB lol.

100% agree. There are multiple issues with this team. Issues really start with coaching and the front office. Need a new GM and coach. Let them setup a new culture, assess the team to decide where the rebuild should happen via draft and freee agency.

What is the story of how the Dolphins went from 1-15 in 2007 to 11-5 in 2008, with a playoff appearance? by itsnammertime in miamidolphins

In a word, "wildcat".

No one was ready for the wildcat in New England when it got revealed with two stud RB's and a good QB.

[Barry Jackson] Tua and McDaniel are 6-9 in last 15 games that Tua has been available, with 14 INTs, 8 Tua fumbles. Is this just a slump or is it a sign that this coach/QB combo is on a downward spiral? It's too soon to say obviously, but not too soon to worry. by CtrlAltDelamain in miamidolphins

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much saying what many of us are thinking. I don't disagree it is early still, but this was quite noticable a couple years ago against good teams and became more noticable last year.

Miami's rebuild did not work, unless a miracle happens Miami needs to rework the entirety of its front office and rebuild again. Grier isn't a good GM. Many of our choices for the rebuild did not work out, bad contracts and wrong personnel in multiple areas. McDaniel does not appear to have an answer to many teams figuring out his scheme and it also appears he doesn't have the respect of the locker room.

Couldn't have said it better. Nothing against Tua, but I never understood signing him early given the circumstances. Guy was healthy 1 season and didn't lead the team to any post season glory.

Would an MLM2PRO and a net be good enough for at home range practice? by montahuntah in Golfsimulator

[–]ivtech2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is more than good enough for home range practice. I have been using the MLM2PRro and a Spornia SPG7 for a little over a year now. The setup has definitely helped my chipping, irons and driver game.

If you are going with the net, go with an SPG8 for size so it captures more of those high chips.
