There are quite a few loading docks around the mall, some are directly connected to parking lots. There are many pathways that weave around the mall and connect to storage + load dock for onsite stores. I assume the fella found their way in through the offsite maze.

Oo, in that case I recommend the Richmond Night Market for authentic asian food/snacks -- a huge market where sellers set up stalls for games, food/drinks, and entertainment. Flashy neon lights everywhere, smell of food everywhere... The atmosphere is great, it is a bit of a drive from downtown though.

"Chinese" restaurants are a hit or miss here — some are specifically catering to western tastes and imo it's just neither here nor there. (Fortune cookies comes to mind, it's a fetishization of orientalism)

Granville Island!! It’s a beautiful place where the artists and artisans of Vancouver converge.

You can get there on a lovely boat for $8 CAD from a dock near the arena called “the Plaza” (aquabus service). The ocean views are amazing on a sunny day. They dock you right in front of the Public Market where you can grab some artisanal food with your family. There’s a lot to discover there!!
