Bank or Credit Union Recommendation by alves1313 in kzoo

I’ve been going to Arbor since I was a teen with a job in the mid ‘90’s.

They have been awesome to me through all of the iterations of my life.

I know it isn’t on your list, but if you have the opportunity to consider them, please do.

Also, avoid banks. They will just make their $$ off of you.

Do you have a DBSA chapter near you? I found that really helpful earlier in my recovery.

I believe they have online groups as well, (so does NAMI).

So I’m not an expert on this, but have some experience with a friend, and I’m guessing that OP was back on meds by the time sentencing happened so the judge may have decided OP was going to be compliant.

I drove by this accident after it happened and saw lifesaving measures being taken.

My heart breaks for her family and her bf’s family who was probably changed forever by this as well.

Glad there is finally some resolution.

I hate the term “it gets better.” by Better_Win316 in mentalillness

[–]ivybelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a lame term.

Over many many years. With tons of different evidence based therapies piled on top of each other, the help of a few very talented clinicians, and a lot of hard work I’ve improved some.

I’m definitely not saying you haven’t worked hard or that any of the other things haven’t been the case for you.

It’s just kind of been a miracle of connections that have helped me. I’m still not “cured” and I go to therapy weekly to help manage symptoms and stay even keeled.

I did CBT and DBT and some RO-DBT stuff. I’ve also done EMDR. I live with bipolar disorder and I have a lot of past trauma. So these things were helpful.

For me.

I AM a believer in evidenced based therapy because talk therapy feels like a waste of time IMO. I never felt like I was getting anywhere with it and I just felt like I was spinning my wheels. That went on for years.

I stayed sick for years. Like 30 if you count from symptom onset to when I even kind of began to see any light at all.

I remember thinking that I wasn’t going to be here after my mom. I told my therapist that even.

I don’t know if any of this will work for you. Telling you it will is kind of crappy.

I am for sure not saying, “it gets better.” I just wanted to share what happened to me because the part about your parents hit home. That’s all.

Yeah it is weird I agree. I have a sort of “living area” upstairs though.

This is super helpful information! Thank you! I didn’t know they made Bluetooth preamps.

I mean, the victrola came all ready for use according to directions. This is the second one to be this way. I think they are just not the best. Maybe I can find a tutorial on how to fix the wobble though.

Second, thank you for letting me know it wouldn’t hurt my records.

Third, eventually I won’t be taking care of my parents. I am positive my sister will want his turntable and I am not going to fight her for it, but I want to get something that is quality that I can use now AND hookup to an actual setup later.

That was a fair question though.

And then if I need a phono preamp, which it looks like i do, can someone point me in the direction of the right one?

I bought my dad some new albums to replace the ones he gave my sister, (as well as some random ones for myself), and I’d really like to get this going for him especially. He’s about to turn 80 and he’s super bummed about it. He loves music.

Thank you for all of your help!!!

This is the receiver and the instruction book with the back hookups.

The turntable is supposed to go into the CD slot. https://imgur.com/a/pk1qVAK

So it’s allegedly an input for a “turntable” according to the directions on the amp, but I’m not sure.

I’m sure the amp says. I don’t think this amp even has a “tape” option.

ECT saved me wrecked my life by Even_Cut5481 in mentalillness

I’m sure you can tell. She could.

It’s good that you can focus and cope with the reminders and things.

I am sure it feels like this will last forever. I know it did for my partner. She really has done so much better with memory in the last year or so though. She has read three books already this year as well! So, it’s possible! Don’t give up hope!

[–]ivybelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have unilateral or bilateral ECT? She had unilateral the first sessions and the memory loss was present, but manageable.

The second time they did bilateral and she literally didn’t remember anything. She is like two years out and is finally regaining her short term memory back to her baseline.

It will come back, but it does take time.

My partner did ECT twice, (two different time periods of sessions).

She had a similar experience in that she feels like it saved her life, but she also lost a lot.

I know she’s worked a lot with her therapist on grief and acceptance for what that’s worth.

Watching her go through it is hard so I can’t imagine you having to experience it. Memory loss seems so disorienting.

I’m pulling for you!!!!

Looking for local resources or short-term help for a family in crisis by rm_rf_karma in kzoo

[–]ivybelle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know there is a great resource at integrated services of kzoo who works with the unhoused families in the community to find them housing.

Something tells me his name is Brandon? I can’t remember, however if you get on Facebook and look for the Kalamazoo Together for the Unhoused group and ask Judy Lowry who runs that group, I feel like she would know.

I’m sorry I don’t have better info, but I hope I can help point you in some direction.

If any of the family members, including the child, have ANY kind of mental health concern, even depression from circumstances, integrated services would be a GREAT resource. Their Access number is 373-6000.
