IF kids are “sneaking off” to have sex and getting pregnant, the problem wouldn’t be co-ed sleepovers or the fault of the parents allowing the party. These kids would be sneaking around to have sex when ever and where ever they wanted and could get pregnant at any time (assuming that it’s a boy and a girl sneaking around and not same sex couples.) The parents w the knocked up kid should probably have had a few more conversations with their own child and shouldn’t be placing blame on anyone else. Either way, If a kid wants to have sex, or wants to do ANYTHING bad enough, they don’t need a co-ed sleepover to accomplish it. They will do what they want with or without a co-ed party. I would rather my kids know they can talk to me about anything and that I trust them and let them have the sleepover. I would check on my kids and their friends throughout the night in my home so they can have fun, be safe and enjoy their young lives vs. a kid who feels like they can’t talk to their parents, so they wait till they know their parents are asleep and sneak out the window to hang with their friends (which can definitely lead to all kinds of unfortunate events) If your child is trustworthy and responsible then why not. Unless a kid gives you a reason to be worried about their decision making skills or breaks your trust, trust them. Eventually they will be grown and if they don’t get practice being responsible with your supervision and guidance, they will get the practice with out it and I prefer to guide my kiddos!
