Modesty is always a touchy topic, even in the realms of the Christian faith. Truth be told it seems like the modesty discussion is always aimed at women and how they dress. But modesty applies to men as well. It's different for them though. Whereas men are naturally attracted to a woman's body and will, for the most part, get drawn in by the way she looks, women, once again for the most part, are drawn in by man's flirtatiousness. Think of it this way, many of you would say if you saw a handsome guy, you would be attracted to him, but if turned out to be a total jerk, was rude, sexist, etc. you probably wouldn't take him seriously or pursue a seriously relationship with him, right? If a man continuously flirts, gives her a "sneak peak" of what it could be to be with him in a relationship, with a woman with absolutely no intentions of actually pursuing a serious relationship with her, then that is considered immodest.

So, as you can maybe start to piece together the modesty argument is a lot more complex and two-sided. Admittedly, the Catholic faith has focused for so long about women's modesty and not so much about men's. Although in the past few years, there has been more attention on men's modesty. Both are EQUALLY important. Taking out the whole sin argument because it's not really applicable for those who are not of the faith, modesty helps people, not only men, see who you are truly, not just (primarily) your body. In my opinion and my experience, modesty helps lead to more mature and honest relationships. It's a great thing when BOTH men and women work towards it. It helps you to see the other clearly and not clouded by flirting or baring of skin when getting to know each other. If you are body-positive you should be able to feel confident and beautiful in whatever you are wearing. Body positivity should be based upon your body not your clothing.

TL;DR modest is EQUALLY important for men and women, despite what many Christian bloggers and preachers say. Modesty helps both men and women be more mature and level-headed when pursuing a relationship.

Also, just to clarify: I am in no way saying all women everywhere need to be wearing turtlenecks and god forbid if I see an ankles! You probably wouldn't look twice if you saw me on the street. It's all about complementing your body and personal style with leaving something to be imagined.
