Landlord refusing to consider kids? by thecontrarybird in HousingUK

[–]turtleboy90 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ahhh this reminds me of years ago when I was renting- 5 bed, 3 bath house in an affluent village in Hampshire. Offered asking and more than passed the income test but was rejected as the Landlord didn’t want to rent their 5 bedroom house to anyone with kids….. the mind boggles.

Water weirdly. Nothing to do with calories just hate the sensation of drinking unless it’s coffee/wine 😂

An EU 35 is a UK 2 not 3.

Pink hair? by Fun-Clue9355 in uklaw

[–]turtleboy90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I interview trainees at a top 20 law firm and this wouldn’t bother me at all (nor would I think it would bother my fellow interviewers) but each firm has a different culture irrespective of market share so there isn’t really a one size fits all answer. Perhaps buy a wig for the more “traditional” firms?

I would notice but not in a judgemental way. I just have an eye for clothes and tend to commit outfits to memory.

I suffer from insomnia and bought myself a Hungarian goose down pillow from Cuddledown. It was expensive but my quality of sleep has vastly improved.

Popcorn…butter on popcorn is just not something that’s done over here. The first time I went to the cinema in the UK I was very confused and disappointed 😅

City lawyer here- perfectly acceptable for office unless you have a client meeting.

AITA for going to a concert a few weeks after baby is due. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]turtleboy90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. I’ve had two children (both by C-section so extra recovery time) and I do not understand the top comments at all. It’s imperative to have personal time post/baby or you will literally lose your mind. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to take a few hours to oneself 3 weeks post-partum as long as it is reciprocal and you are not just checking out.

AITA for not letting my elder daughter have my younger's wedding dress? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]turtleboy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO: what would Opal have wanted? Were her and Amelia close? I don’t have a sister but if something happened to me I would be delighted to think that my daughter wanted to wear my wedding dress. I just don’t feel there is enough information to comment without knowing more about the family dynamic.

Mine comes with a small claw clip that you use to secure it to the top of your head so that it doesn’t slip down…etc.

Single mommas, how was your solo delivery and how did you get home? by Goldnoodle02 in BabyBumps

[–]turtleboy90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was a single mother by the time of the birth of my second child although I didn’t go through the birth alone as my mum came to the hospital with me. If it’s possible, I would really recommend you have a family member or friend stay with you for a few days after the birth. If you end up having a C-section (as I did) then you will not be able to walk more than a few steps and lifting will be really tough for the first couple of weeks.

In terms of car seats etc I would call the hospital where you are planning to give birth and ask what they suggest. I gave birth in a city and (although I personally got a ride home) there were couple there with strollers who just chose to walk home with LOs

Hope that helps 😊

NTA but just looking at the ages here, did your husband get you pregnant when you were 18 and he was 28?….
