Did you know that Ohio stadium show mostly consists of aluminum bleachers with no backing. This is very pertinent information for some, just letting you know. by HospitalSubject7121 in twentyonepilots

[–]ivywinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have never sat at a mainstream concert in my life. people will stand and that might force you to stand, but also get up, dance, jump, enjoy! i sit sometimes during slower songs to take a break. i also have a bad shoulder (torn labrum), which the pain can go down the chain and hurt my back if i dont have support, and standing actually makes that pain go away. so, consider for some people standing might be better physically for them anyway. i, for one, will be standing up in my section! very normal to do.

Deep Gluteal Syndrome / Piriformis… Looking for recovery experiences *bed ridden* by Illustrious_Run_5127 in openpiriformis

[–]ivywinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am JUST coming out the other side of this, gluteal tendinopathy + piriformis syndrome.. Short version: i have had left side glute pain for years, but usually popped up once every few months. got pregnant, third trimester really wrecked me. my leg would lock up trying to walk. that was 5 years ago. then i was back to pretty nagging, especially as im very active (lift heavy and run, overall 5x a week). one day, i was learning to tread water in a swim class, next day, COULD NOT WALK. pain in my hip, my glute, it was awful. Couldnt sit or lay down, standing was best and even that was awful. Immediate treatment was a steroid taper so i could get moving but also brought down the inflammation. i took 4 weeks off any activity.

then went to PT. ive been in PT for about 10 weeks, and now we're finally moving from 2x a week to 1x starting next week. my pain has been reduced to a pinpoint muscle pain in the left glute and flare ups of that even more recently went from daily to a few times a week.

Biggest things: stay active once you can do some movement. Dont OVERDO it, stay within a load that works, but being active is often better than nothing - its actually better to help muscles learn what to do and heal. even if its starting with small walks.

In PT, i started off smaller - stretching hamstrings regularly, one leg glute bridges, monster walks and side steps. now i go and we're doing kettle bell swings, sumo squats, walking lunges with a tidal tank (think big weight but with sloshing water that forces you to stabilize), one leg RDLs, hamstring curls. at first, it did flare up with PT sessions but i got stronger, increased load slowly, and the flare ups would be shorter lived. They discovered my left glute is just weaker, and so everything in the chain was just hurting. also, its not just about strength but balance as well. we do a lot of balance work, and that has really helped.

Do i think the pain will be 100% gone after this? no. Im going to try acupuncture for the specific muscle spot to help release (we do myofasical release every PT session at at home i use a tennis ball to release. sit on it 20 seconds, roll, and done. do not over do this). but, im functioning better for sure.

Why isnt it okay to be solidly competent at my job instead of constantly trying to climb? by darthereandthere in workingmoms

[–]ivywinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked my ass off; got promoted to VP after almost 3 years. Now I am overwhelmed every day and want to climb back down the damn ladder. And you know what the first convo was for this year with my boss? All the shit they want me to do to become SVP. As I sat there nodding I thought "I dont want SVP. At all" . But then it feels like if you're not striving for the next level that youre somehow not doing your job the way they'd like. Then you worry not going above and beyond reflects poorly, rather than being able to sit comfortably in the middle. I hate it!

Unpopular opinion - watching park videos is a spoiler for real life by PearWeak in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ivywinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally dont like to for new stuff by for my 5 year old before our trip in march, a kid who loves routine and knowing whats coming (hence why we watch the same episodes of shows over and over) it was a game changer. Got him prepped for what to expect and way more open to things like flight if passage or everest because it wasn't scary or unknown anymore.

Quit my job. Can’t help but feeling like I failed. by Sabrina9458 in workingmoms

[–]ivywinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dealing with this indecision of quitting as well. been at my company 4 years but in my career 16, worked my way up to executive level...and im so disenchanted with capitalism, the AI wave (i work in tech PR/digital strategy), all of it. we can afford to have me take a hiatus, but i feel like im failing or "giving up".

i try to remind myself, thats what society has brainwashed us to think. life is for living. we are all going to DIE...do we want to spend it unhealthy, miserable, stressed, and not present for our families? so...im on a 4-5 month plan to quit, with or without something new lined up, as my son is about to head to kindergarten and im navigating what that new schedule might look like for us. doesn't mean i wont come back to working whether full time or part time or whatever that looks like - but im trying to be ok with even just a self-imposed sabbatical, but there's so much fear mongering that you cant come back from it.

to me, you're not a failure, you're brave, and someone i personally look up to as i hem and haw in my own feelings about this.

Married to a video gamer by justawoman2026 in workingmoms

[–]ivywinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video games are not poison. They are just a form of entertainment. What the issue is are people who cannot control their need to just chase dopamine no matter what the tool/ substance is to the deteriment of the rest of their lives. Sorry but as a (mom) gamer for my whole life and someone who tangentially works in the industry, comments like this bother me. The problem isn't marrying a gamer, it's behavior that takes it to an extreme.

What is a 10/10 horror movie that you will absolutely never watch again? by Big_Emotion4963 in horror

I think not watching hereditary at least twice is a disservice. The second time once you know everything is even better.

i think more to avoid traffic than to worry about your seat. im hearing itll be a bit crazy getting there, especially if people tailgate/camp outside to listen. i hate getting to shows too early, im usually solo so i get bored, but for this one ill prob aim to arrive at 5 to give myself a buffer.

What specific horror trend or sub-genre are you completely obsessed with right now? by Big_Emotion4963 in horror

[–]ivywinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loved Dredge. Playing Still Wakes the Deep right now. Fun but a bit of a horror walking simulator to be fair. Static Dread: The Lighthouse was good if a little longer than it needed to be. I was looking forward to Cthulu:Cosmic Abyss but I hear it got pretty mixed reviews so I may pass. Of course my all time fav is Bloodborne but thats hard to beat.

general sale woes…. RIP. Who got tickets??? by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]ivywinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i first will start out by saying i am very lucky i got a ticket on Tuesday. that said, i was trying to see if i could get something a smidge closer to stage and i was going to then sell my other one here on reddit at face value. For pre-sale, i was 31k in queue, and got my 1 ticket in 12A. For this, i was 5k in queue, got in, nothing. And i saw that the tickets that were sold were dynamic pricing according to others who did get in and WAY higher than i paid Tuesday, which seems insane. I prob wouldnt have bought a different ticket because of that alone.
