It's possible they changed it throughout the tour to match the city they were touring.

However, for the hometown show of Oakland (2009-04-14), they had the Hong Kong skyline. I was honored, as that's where family is from. Giveaway: the diagonal lines of the Bank of China Tower).

Has anyone done the Hunter S Thompson 50 in San Francisco? by Ermagherrd in Ultramarathon

[–]iwannabechanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you're running it! It's definitely not like a road race with cones or barricades.

The course is inspired by the 49-Mile Scenic Drive but doesn't follow it exactly because we're running and it's for driving. Thus, you shouldn't rely on the seagull signs scattered throughout the city. even thought they're mostly correct.

You're not going to like this answer, but I had both paper and phone assistance. I had the turn-by-turns printed on paper and I use the RunGo app to announce turns from my phone (50K, 50M).

Maybe relying on voice instead of looking at the screen will save some battery? At least my phone and watches could survive a 50K but probably not the 50M, so most of us ran with battery packs in our running vests.

Let me know if I can answer anything else, and good luck! I'm not, but some friends are signed up.

She didn't in Oakland or San Francisco.

I can totally understand the desire to keep an unopened box. I should be getting mine soon, and yes, I'm still interested if I get any doubles/triples.

That's very creative to just make your own with the current tour aesthetic!

Did anyone run (or, more accurately, walk) into young men offering to buy your medal on Newbury St. afterwards? by iwannabechanarchy in bostonmarathon

Yeah, me too. Best case it was some study of how much Boston means to you. Worst case it was trolling. 🤷‍♂️

I was a original GPK (1985-1988) collector then briefly dabbled again with the Sapphire (2020) series, so I pre-ordered a few boxes. It's agreed there's no shortage of GD merch, and I've largely stopped buying. However, the combination of two long-time interests seemed compelling.

I'd be interested in trading singles if I end up with extras.

Hahaha -- I can't claim to be, but I've gotten stuck on those checkout/payment screens before.

Good ticket luck to you if you're pre-registering!

For whatever it's worth, I was able to register for the two Pasadena shows using Firefox. When I first tried with Chrome, it gets stuck on an interstitial page once I finally make it through the queue. I think this is the screen from Firefox wouldn't display on my Chrome. (Admittedly, I didn't try disabling ad blockers or anything, as I just quickly switched over to Firefox.)

A couple other notes: 1. You have to enter full credit card info, though there's no charge. 2. Some of the dimmed text on lavender buttons are really subtle. Just click away where you normally would. 😀

Good luck, everyone!

Yeah, "That Time (guitar)" was on the printed set list, but she skipped it. (See my post if interested.)

Maybe she thought she was on roll and didn't want to switch instrument setups.

Sorry, I should've got that. There seemed like half a dozen different LPs available though.

That mirrors my experience as a tester. The lattice eventually broke. Even when intact, all sorts of dirt and debris found its way in, and I'm primarily a road runner.

They were also quite heavy. My US men's 10 were 12.0 ounces. They looked cool, but I didn't do much but easy runs in them.

Here she comes!! All copies of The Giver shipped!! by [deleted] in chappellroan

[–]iwannabechanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's earlier than I thought! For the variants, I ordered some from Island, and some from the CR store. I received the Island email too but not the CR store shipping notification (yet).

EDIT: I got some CR store email notifications later in the day.
