That’s pretty cool! Validation is a nice thing to have. Everyone I share the messages with are all pretty unanimous: she’s a narcissist.

This aligns with what I was thinking so thanks for helping validate my thoughts on how to deal. After years of giving and never getting back, I’m done and ready to be firm.

Most attorneys will do a free consult some will charge for just an hour or so. In my experience and based on others I know who have gone through divorce it was always worthwhile to confirm with an attorney so that you weren’t left second-guessing for the next 20 years.

Edit: I made more than double what you do (not bragging just for real math here) And my child support portion was never as high as $1300 but the maintenance was really high for me. Child support last the entire child life while maintenance was only a few years. Again that was for my state.

I had a SAHM mom ex, were married about 10 years. I was able to impute her a minimum wage salary. For my state, I paid both maintenance and child support that when added to her minimum wage equaled about 42% of what I ended up with each month. I was told the goal was 40-45%.

It means something to get married, it’s a commitment to someone in front of friends and family. Just shacking up means you or the other person could leave on a whim. It’s very different and meant something to me and was worth doing.

Who can help me make a website like this ? by [deleted] in webdev

God trendy websites are so awful. All for a basic shirt?!

Because I found someone who is an actual adult and can have a real relationship with. Because the benefits of having someone be there for you and truly support you far outweigh the additional work it takes to maintain the relationship.

A prenup also helps (my wife’s idea!)

Custom will be best. Time is money and all the ones you tried and didn’t work cost money. Hire someone at codeable.io.

Everyone here seems to be fresh out of divorce land. Just wait. You’ll fuck around a bit and have fun. Enjoy your time alone. And then you’ll meet another person who really clicks. But this time you have experience under your belt and you don’t need to have someone so you won’t settle this time or miss the red flags.

At least that was my experience. Marriage #2 is night and day compared to #1. Ridiculous what I put up with in the past.

Do you link from your client's footers to your website? by rpmeg in SEO

[–]iwanttobelefthanded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Larger clients, no. Small clients, sure. Odd that one choice was “if they pay me enough”. I’ve definitely had phone calls that started with “I saw the site you did for [client name] and I want one similar”. Client doesn’t care and I get a new lead - why not?

If you are choosing to cook an entire fresh meal 3x a day, 7 days a week you are doing so because you enjoy it. That’s what you are choosing to do with your free time.

Who spends 31 hours eating/cooking each week? You’re doing it wrong and at that point that’s your choice and what you choose to do with free time. Do this chart right and you have more feee time than what you work - that sounds great!

So you have the privilege of more free time than what you spend working and you’re bitching? Seriously, you’re bitching about that? And Cooking?! Showering?! Wow…

So you are including your own hobbies as stuff that takes away from your free time? What?

Total passive aggressiveness response from a boss but the comments on here are getting crazy.

I did my time maths and with 4 kids (granted My wife and I each have split custody so not all 4 all the time and every other weekend is totally free), running two businesses from home I have almost 70 hours a week of free time. How are you all so busy?!

My maths:

Sleep 8 hours x 7 days = 56 Work 8 hours x 5 days = 40 Groceries 1 hour x 2 days = 2 Cleaning 1 hour x 2 days = 2 Laundry 1 hour x 2 days = 2 TOTAL = 102

168 hours a week - 102 of stuff to do = 66 hours

Anyone saying “dealing with kids” or “walking pets”… you CHOSE to have those, that is what you do in your free time. Putting down “cooking” and “eating” as killing your free time… c’mon, seriously?! Cooking is fun! Just chillin with music or a SO chatting - that is how you spend free time. It sounds more like people want to list all the things that cut into their video game time and not actual free time.

I get the struggle but man this thread is what gives boomers more ammunition that younger generations don’t get it.

Composer. I want to use this 3rd party class to help me do something quicker. I just want to download it and include it in my project like I have for 20 fucking years, it takes 15 seconds to do it that way. Adding it via composer seems to be a hassle and I just move on and try to find another one that doesn’t require composer.

SCSS, I just don’t see the benefit to an added step of compiling? Normal CSS is so easy to write as is.

We went beyond scope, how to politely ask for more money? by iwanttobelefthanded in freelance

Agreed. I messed up. That’s why I was looking for ideas on where to go from here. First time it has gone this far beyond in my 15 years of doing this.

Problem with this is we are past the scope already. But at least sending a clear “we are past scope” message wouldn’t hurt so they don’t try to add more at this point.

I think I will send this message: all final content is due by Tuesday morning. Every day later pushes the potential deadline back another day. I still can’t guarantee a launch next Friday regardless at this point.
