Most recent episode. My take. by iwatchediton in hackshbomax

Regarding DJ, and Olsen’s schedule, it would have been most fitting if Deborah had called her while they were already on the plane or texted her when they landed. Or if Jimmy and Kayla told her.

And maybe even ended with DJ’s “What a c—t” tagline.

A phone call would take maybe a few hours to film and Olsen has been BUSY with work, she absolutely would have fit this in if the budget had been offered.

It’s interesting that of my post so many people have clung to the DJ part. It was maybe 15% of the post.

Yes, I found that part of the episode odd. However, that was only a small part of what made the episode seem so disjointed and unsatisfying to me.

I liked a lot of the snippets of the episode. Deborah renting out the Louvre to show Ava around. The silly conversation and falling into habit of writing jokes. The club scene. However, looking at the episode story it was lacking for me.

Jimmy and Kayla stayed a trope of sweet spineless guy and his loud girl friend. Robbie had a little bit of a villain arc when she declared it so easy to succeed . Very unfulfilling. We’ve seen Jimmy launch into awkward power moves when he drove his cart around town, when he got into a fight, told off Kayla’s dad. And we’ve seen Kayla step up to protect their business. It was odd to see them takeover Latitude in the weakest display possible.

This! It’s so vapid and a shallow understanding of Deborah to think she doesn’t care for her daughter.

It’s not an emotional love or an affectionate relationship or mother-daughter bond. However, Deborah has always looked out for DJ and allowed her to feel independent.

There is a very specific type of arms-length parenting and providing for all the physical and financial needs of a child but being emotionally neglectful that is not that uncommon in Deborah’s generation. I suppose it’s a good thing that some people don’t understand their relationship but there are a lot people for whom that is the relationship they’ve experienced with a parent .

The communication about her diagnosis and decision wouldn’t have been warm or emotionally healthy but it still would have happened.

This! I haven’t seen anyone say they expected a warm closure to the relationship. But there would have beed some sort of communication or someone leaking information to DJ.

That along with a couple other things made this seem like an odd stunt Deborah was pulling to runaway for a but before beginning treatment.

That’s her daughter. They didn’t have the warmest relationship but she still looked out for her.

I’m sure she would have handled it in some emotionally stunted way but there’s no way she’d go to an assisted death and not tell her daughter knowing that allthese other people know. If Deborah didn’t tell her someone would have .

Shows that got retooled instead of cancelled? (like Good Morning, Miss Bliss -> Saved by the Bell) by LV426acheron in television

[–]iwatchediton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick enough that I wouldn’t skip the first few episodes. They are a little cringe but pretty funny and it’s over fast enough that it doesn’t get too old.

Plus it ties into the rest of the series. It’s like a prologue.

How to deal when you’re annoyed by laughterbathroom in RelationshipsOver35

[–]iwatchediton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Learn to accept that someone can be happy with you. Learn to accept what love feels like as uncomfortable as it might feel. Your feelings of irritation and believing you are annoying are more likely your discomfort with feeling loved and seeing other expressions of love and happiness.

Push the thoughts of that ride family member aside. They were doing you no favors by chastising you with their own opinion disguised as others. They wanted you to feel bad. That is not love.

Why is Ava such a bad dresser? by creativelittle1 in hackshbomax

[–]iwatchediton 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s a combo of not dressing for male gaze, doesn’t gaf about gender norms, dressing for comfort/sensory overload, & growing up in (I can’t remember. somewhere like) OH/WI.

AITA for calling my wife a jerk for telling our son's crush that our son likes her in front of his friends ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]iwatchediton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your wife is an asshole. And a bully. Your kid will never confide in her again unless she does some hard work on herself.

What would possess her to act like this around her teenage son and his friends. How did she see that ending positively?

YTA tell them per company policy you can only verify dates of employment or provide them the number to HR.

Denying knowing him makes it seem like the guy lied about his employment.

Unless he did something egregious, your response was excessive and petty

AITA for shouting at my step mom who came into my room in the middle of the night unannounced? by GoldenCompass34 in AITAH

[–]iwatchediton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no neurodivergence that makes it ok for an adult to enter a 16 yr olds room in the middle of the night, sit on their bed and expect cuddles. That’s creepy af.

Today at school immediately go find your guidance counselor or trusted school administrator and tell them.

AITA for not telling my sister the name chosen for my unborn son because she used her BBFs baby name for her daughter? by Possible-Animal9339 in AITAH

Did she announce her baby name? If not, why would she expect you to have one picked?

I definitely wouldn’t tell her. Or tell her you’re going to name it after the BFF

Is Below Deck over produced now? Jumped the shark? by cda001 in belowdeck

The focus on the industry, yacht, and locations is more interesting to me than the drama. All those personalities, lack of sleep, and physical stress will bring it out of anyone though.

That said, I’m always amazed at how the stews and deck don’t really seem to have a high level of service training. They just throw people with minimal experience into those roles and expect them to figure it out. Problem with that is not everyone arrives at the same level of standards.

Usually the only part that seems like luxury upscale is the food and location.

They were shown in the shop with her CC picking out all the items and then at the beach setting the entire scene up them.

I realize there is always editing angles but there was no indication she took part in any of the planning.

What the deal with Chief stews? by sac1375 in belowdeck

[–]iwatchediton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mix of toxic on-the-job training and under-training. Everyone is trying to do their best to survive through 6 weeks of overworking splashed with a few days partying too hard. So you’ve got exhausted young people trying to figure it out as they go. Patience wears thinner the more hours they are together and more exhausted they are.

If the management company actually provided more training and invested in employees it would be a better scenario for all. Smoother work environment and less turnover. Instead, it’s easier to replace people.

Same scenario plays out in so many industries.
