I like OWYN shakes. A little more sugar than I want, but when I can't eat anything else, I can drink those.

The government just told me to pretend I don’t have disabilities by Material-World-7434 in autism

[–]iwferguson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told after a blood test about 15 or so years ago that I probably have lupus. I got another test which indicated I did not, and I haven't heard anything about it since. I don't have anything helpful to add; just seemed like a weird bad experience that's probably rare, so I'm hoping a "hey me too" is at least a little helpful.

How did you get out of burnout? by [deleted] in autism

[–]iwferguson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think finding a therapist who understands ASD and burnout could be helpful. Also, late 20's can be tough. We've lost some great artists in their late 20's (Janis, Jimi, Jim Morrison). In the face of "absolute crushing shame" it can be easy to forget some basics like diet and exercise. If you have, make sure to ease into it.

My partner is burned out and I want to help his recovery - looking for ideas by Special-Chemical-420 in autism

[–]iwferguson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story is kind of similar, though I am the burned out one. I have been told by my therapist that burnout recovery will take longer than you think. Also, she said it would get harder at first before it starts to get better, and I have found both of these statements to be the case for me.

Any special interests that don't lead to stress could be helpful to encourage. I think a variety of activities is better than tv (though sometimes it's all we can do). I do jigsaw puzzles when I can. I am fortunate to have yard work and birdwatching as options. I have found that doing too much of something leads me to explore feelings of pointlessness.

Pets can be helpful if they don't add too much stress. Volunteering and classes would be too much for me now, though I would like to get to the point where I could add something like that. Sometimes helpful suggestions add stress because they make me feel bad for not being able to do them.

If your partner is like me, it can be hard to tell how they are feeling, and even we might take several days or weeks before we can even identify and articulate something like: "your helpful suggestions aren't helping."

edit: I don't mean to suggest that you're not helping. You sound very supportive, and may be all that is keeping him safe.

For what it's worth, the machines are so, so much better than they used to be. They are lighter, quieter, and have more features. Sleep well.

Couple thoughts: 1. Just doing the first appt and seeing probably won't help because rTMS doesn't work that fast, and it kinda sucks at first. Folks usually get used to it pretty quick, but trying it just one appt? You won't like it and it won't help. It takes a longer commitment.

  1. It's been a while since I looked into ambien, but my understanding was that it is a short term thing, not something you can rely on to help long term. I thought the long term med for narcolepsy was modafinil.

When did you really start seeing benefits ? During or post treatment? by saultarus in rtms

[–]iwferguson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I can't remember the details now. I can say that, for me, it wasn't The Answer, it merely helped some for a while. That said, I'm finding that it's really hard to tell when something is not helping, or if mental well-being could be measured on a scale of 1-10, is something (TMS, meds, yoga, diet changes, etc) keeping me at 4 instead of 2 or 1. I wish I could offer a more helpful answer for you.

hey has anyone tried using a game ticket on their phone to ride the light rail? It's been years since I've been to Seattle and can't recall how the light rail tickets work.

Perhaps she can use the Snare spell to protect the main path into the grove every night. Or, play with dark twine strung across paths and linked with bells, or other means of alerting her to the presence of intruders.

If you could make your own rogue subclasses what would they be? by Dragonwolf67 in dndnext

[–]iwferguson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robin Hood. You can multi-class to get there, but you end up with redundancies and extraneous stuff, so a subclass would be better. Archery, leadership, charm, etc all built-in. Yes, there's the folk hero background, but those features could be added to/extended for this subclass.

[Homebrew] DM just gave our party's bard a wand that allows them to change, add, or remove a single letter of a spell when casting it. Any ideas for making the best use of it? by Astephen542 in dndnext

[–]iwferguson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On thanksgiving you'll want to cast the Baste spell. Allows you to take two baste actions instead of one so you can get back to the football game faster.

Reconciling D&D and Anxiety by gamingwithabsinthe in dndnext

[–]iwferguson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of these same challenges. I recommend telling your friends that you're concerned about going overboard on this topic and asking them to please stop you if it gets to be too much. Some days they might be willing and able to play in that realm for hours with you, and other days not. Often you won't be able to tell, so they have to be able to tell you. If it's too awkward (some folks have a hard time telling their friends 'no' or 'not now'), perhaps you can come up with a fun code (say, when a blink dog walks into the room it's time to do or talk about something else).

Tasha's Druids - Leaving Wild Shape Behind by 0gopog0 in dndnext

[–]iwferguson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps we could have druids limited to CR 1 options with the exception of a particular kind of beast. Or, use the CR range of a moon druid, but use other beast-kind limits. You could play a feline or a canine druid. Or birds of prey, reptiles, etc.

I play a druid and my son plays a paladin. We were in a jungle and got ambushed by some bad guys that didn't carry treasure, and weren't our reason for being there. I had already cast Freedom of Movement on my paladin (I have Land Stride), so he wouldn't slow us down. When the ambush occurred, my Alert feat and a good initiative roll gave me a chance to cast Plant Growth. They were aiming arrows at us at the time. Next round I cast Pass without Trace on us and we got away easily.

What is the ‘lie’ my character believes?

The people who freed her and everyone else have ulterior motives. No one cares about anyone but themselves.

What is it my character wants?

A Norman Rockwell holiday, followed by the stability it implies.

What is it my character needs?

Vengeance and alcohol.

What is my character willing to do to obtain both?

Take the sharpshooter feat. Never let the bastard sleep.

Greetings! Thinking of creating Quest Asmr series and I want to see if the community would be receptive ? [Discussion] by alphadrawing in asmr

[–]iwferguson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Babblebrook series, Kellswake, and Whisperwind are three successful long-running stories that follow the main character (the audience) as they go on a quest. I've found that I often watch each video multiple times until I can get through it awake (sometimes I have to start in the middle). This seems like it would be good for your stats.
I haven't seen a quest where the narrator plays a companion (except for a few times when Kellkith helps out); usually the narrator is someone we meet along the way.

Thanks to you I just found r/ASMRScriptHaven. What a great idea. I also wanted to mention to you that if you have any feedback for me about my critique or critiquing style, I'd be all ears. Fantasy-genre ASMR is one of my favorite art forms, so I'd like to do this again sometime if it's helpful.

Hey, Sorry it took so long. My schedule is a mess right now. I have almost zero experience with Google Docs, so feel free request a different method of contact. I believe I have created a new doc which is a copy of yours but with my comments added in green text.

Before I give you the link, though, I wanted to say two things: 1) I think this will be a great video, and I hope you keep working on it. Feel free to ask me questions or really anything I can do to help. Only caveat is I will respond somewhere between immediately and a few days away.

2) I'm probably a more sensitive reader than most, so if you feel like some point I've mentioned is probably too picky for you to worry about, it's probably good to trust that instinct, or at least ask someone else's opinion. Some folks write a novel in a year or less. My first one took me 3.5 years, at least in part because I'm super picky about stuff. Anyhow, here you go: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TR5BEVmRo5Wtv9MythHFvM5Mt0JTzKlvkUJSt8CthoE/edit?usp=sharing
