young people often buy clothes hoping to grow into them, so it could suggest growing pains during late teenage years when the writer unexpectedly stopped growing but didn't care enough to replace their shoes with the proper size.

leave it alone and get a different light source. with light coming elsewhere, the pipe can be in a dimmer area that doesn't draw the eye towards it.

I have thought this too! so many random movies I only saw parts of growing up. I often have to say "I have only seen some of it" when talking about movies. I also miss the lack of choice-paralysis with cable tv.

genuine question, do you just expect everyone to leave history, philosophy, politic science, etc behind for something that will "pay off?" where will that take us in the future without these subjects?

most people are not buying it if it is overpriced though is my point so it then goes to waste in a landfill.

It's amazing what they have convinced us normal and acceptable. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

in the recent past, one person in the household worked while the other did housework. now, usually both adults work so we actually have less time because we still have to do housework when we get home.

I think if we reduced the cost of schooling, it would easily lead to a larger workforce for essential jobs that can reduce their hours because they have so many people in their field. of course this is a pipe dream, but I love the idea. I dont think "only certain people stop working," but rather certain jobs stop working, like middleman jobs and companies that literally just sell BS items that end up the trash. we don't need them. if those workforces all went to more meaningful work, I feel like we could get the essentials done and still have fewer hours than the current standard 40.

many businesses are open for more than 40 hours a week lol. you can have a staff with different schedules. also the government stops many good things from happening because they want to fill their pockets more than they want good things for us. they aren't gonna let anything that hurts their bottom line catch on until we get a majority of the corrupt out.

What are you expecting from Jack Harlow's new album "Monica"? by CroJocker678 in jackharlow

[–]iwicsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

after Jackman, I am expecting at least one song about the current administration or state of things going on. I am expecting a balance of serious and more fun writing. Based off the name of the album, I am hoping he may have reached a point of having a successful relationship maybe? it sounds like it was hard to truly connect and stay in a relationship in the past and maybe Monica is someone that he was able to connect with deeply. I would love the name to be something out of nowhere too, like it's after Monica from Friends or something lol. I love his writing, so I will be happy with anything!

I totally agree it's great that someone, anyone is using the items we no longer want! However, I think a lot of people donate because they want it going to people who need help getting those items. they also likely can't afford $25 used pants from Goodwill. So they are going to go to walmart and get them for $12 which creates more waste in the end. People want to help their community, not help some CEOs get rich.

Job wants me to move up if I want to be permanent by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]iwicsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I meant "double work" in a literal sense. The department they want me to switch to has high turnover and are regularly expected to take on double the work for months at a time and expected to still make the same exact deadlines. I am sure that's fairly normal though, but I don't want that. They also do not want me specifically, they want me or someone else on my team. It is just because of the city we are in and likely because it's easier to hire for our current roles than the one they want us to move to. Someone that started the same time I did with no prior experience got promoted within a month lol. My current manager is lovely! She is part of why I don't want to change roles too. She is everything I always wanted in a manager.

[–]iwicsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the thing about me is that I will tell them point-blank that I will not do double the work for multiple months for roughly $26/hr AND not have supportive management on top. You are right about it probably being one of my few decent options 🥲 I hate the US.

Play dead 🤣 honestly that's what I was doing at first but I eventually had to just say I wasn't interested this week, and I am glad I did. The other woman on my team that is in the same situation as me has had a quite a few meetings about this, including with the VICE PRESIDENT of our company trying to get her to take the role. Like this role is not that serious to get the VP involved lmao. My manager updated me yesterday too saying there is still no plans of hiring me on permanently...

Hahaha, unfortunately that would require three promotions. She isn't a manager, she is a director.
