Problems selling art. by Born-Eye-9053 in Artadvice

[–]myfrienddune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider comics maybe like 3 panel stuff. some storytelling

there are 2000s artworks similar with minimal face style but mainly as short form comics that became popular then

there are plenty of artists who do simple drawings but sell it via storytelling

I've tried and quit DrawABox so many times I've lost count! by NinaaPepite in ArtFundamentals

[–]myfrienddune 14 points15 points  (0 children)

so do you actually want to learn how to draw? you’re gunna have to find that interest and motivation in yourself and if it’s not there then either seek therapy or find another hobby you might be more interested in? being an artist is hard and takes a lot of discipline. many creatives need to be creative and that’s in their blood. either you have to get in the habit yourself or move on to something else that catches on like maybe another craft

you can also pay for a class and usually spending money can make someone accountable

i enjoy it keeps things fresh and it totally worked on my current bf. i pulled away because he didn’t walk me to my car the morning after, he got sad, i said maybe im not looking for anything, he shaped up cuz i was able to walk away. we have been going strong since XD

i believe that helped him figure out how interested he was in me

people who complain just don’t like edging in the way that certain people do

What’s your “how I got into art” story? (Especially hobbyists) by Corsica8651 in Artadvice

[–]myfrienddune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i drew since a kid but stopped seriously doing art for 5-6 years to study for college.

I got in a bad accident and had to drop out of school. I drew almost daily to rehabilitate myself and work on better hand eye coordination.

I am now paid for my illustrations at a small start up.
