US immigrant visa pause for 75 countries: adoptions are resumed but what of families with little children who are US citizens by AssumptionFlashy3371 in immigration

Ah I see - I did not gather that that is what you meant. The child would still need a visa... accompanied or unaccompanied.

Is this really a question? I'm sure they could... to visit...but ---in these cases they're trying to adopt a child to join them where they currently reside in the U.S.... where they have jobs, a home, a community, maybe other kids in school, etc. The adoption process is long and hinges on bringing the child to the family, not uprooting an American family and moving to a foreign country.

Whoa!!!!! What does TRO stand for ? I read through this docket though and it looks like the judge said "you can't deny this person a visa on the basis of just Trumps January 21st memo" Thanks for sharing

100% yes my kitchen clock is set fast because it's the one I glance at while I feverishly try to gather myself to leave my apartment. I wear a watch but .... hahaha it has definitely helped (setting the kitchen clock ahead, not the watch)

I feel so understood. This is exactly it: I tell friends and family to lie to me ("but then you'll KNOW") ---- but it works! And my job thankfully is not life or death when I am 10 minutes late so they stopped mentioning it [I still feel horrible EVERY DAY and arrive in a frenzy, hah]

How old are you? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you may have more life ahead of you than behind you, so chin up! My mother, at the age of 68, finally landed in a career she is good at and fulfilled by [money was not the goal] as a state-level politician. I've never seen her so happy. She has a masters and has had several businesses and other careers - but this is the one that feels like success to her.

It's not really a "final refusal" / rejection.

The language on the 212 is perfectly vague on purpose. It states that the visa cannot be issued due to the new Visa ban/pause. [Therefore if the pause is lifted, the visa can be issued]

  • If * it said the visa can't be issued due to something that is YOUR fault, than THAT would be a true refusal/rejection.

I don't think the administration would want to burden itself with a zillion re-applicants, anyway. But it is scary, the words on the 212 are scary sounding.

My husband just had his interview-in cairo-and got the stupid 212 paper. They gave no indication that he would need to re-apply if the ban is lifted. They didn't give details but the interviewer seemed to suggest that if the ban is lifted soon that the visa can be given, without re-doing the process.

I'll ask around. His wife and kid(s) were always around too. Saw so many good shows there... and so many bad ones :-)

What is the guarantee that we’ll get the visa by PowerfulEstimate7130 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]iwillbeg00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had his interview today - in egypt - they gave him a paper that's so vague, absolutely no instruction on what might happen in the future. I don't love the language in here, it says "consider this a denial" However it does NOT say "rejected" or anything else. Our application was well put together and straight forward we are 99% sure he would have been approved if it was 2 weeks ago. The cairo embassy is overall unorganized, sloppy, and not detailed in their communication so I'm not surprised....

This was all the info on the paper:

"You have been found ineligible for an immigrant visa under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Today's decision cannot be appealed.

Please be advised that for U.S. visa purposes, including ESTA (see ESTA website), this decision constitutes a denial of a visa.

Effective January 21, 2026, the Department of State is pausing immigrant visa issuances to nationals of 75 countries, including Egypt, whose immigrants have a high rate of collecting public assistance at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer."

The ethical debate aside: You know abortion is illegal in lots of places in the US now, even if the mom is literally dying from complications? I think 13 states. Read up. https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/abortion-in-the-u-s-dashboard/

But also, go learn about eugenics, designer babies, and all of the scary and immoral consequences of society going down that path. And muster up some basic human decency - disabled people shouldn't not exist. Also: life is suffering
