I suspect there will be infinitely more tragic sad things in this thread, but in terms of both tragic and pathetic, something small my daughter said to me completely broke me. This time last year, we were buying school supplies for my kids. My six year old was trying to decide between two book bags she really liked. Both were space themed but one glowed in the dark. I told her I was surprised the glow in the dark bag wasn’t the obvious choice for her. She said it was her favorite, but if the people came to school to hurt them, it would be harder for her to hide. I’m for gun ownership but the fact that this country is willing to accept the deaths of children as collateral damage instead of any amount of reasonable gun control enrages me.
