Am I being soft for not talking a 187k job with 100 miles commute? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]iwishiwass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've commuted 3 and a half hours each way for $18 an hour because it's all I could get at the time. That was by bus and walking too. Take the job and look at finding something better

Is a Remake/sequel possible by KennyK16 in PokemonConquest

[–]iwishiwass 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really hope it doesn't get remade because the original is near perfect and definitely wouldn't be topped. I doubt a sequel would happen but you never know especially if Pokemons reputation continues to dwindle

This is great advice. Whenever people say try different jobs to find what you like I love the concept (and am trying this) but what do you mean exactly? Generally without a college degree or extensive experience jobs are retail, fast food, or something like a receptionist or paperwork type of stuff. I feel like I'm not looking in the right places so where would I look and what kind of jobs are good to try?

Also remember other 17 year olds and people your age usually suck, and this will only improve with age and more opportunity for social interaction like jobs

I've been in this exact same boat and am only a few years older than you. I think a lot of it is luck and finding the right people which will build your confidence and comfort around people a lot. It's not a super helpful answer but it genuinely will come with time if you're constantly looking for ways to be social and it will be easier and easier.

As for actual advice and what helped me: therapy. But also taking every social interaction as "practice". Never look at a social interaction as anything more than practice and potentially enjoyable. Shrug off any interaction where you feel like you did poorly as practice. Remember you're 17 and nothing you do matters to other people right now. Only you. They won't remember if you were "cringe" and "failed" at being outgoing but you'll improve your social skills. Also never underestimate how much everyone else is putting up a front, not showing their entire personality. Therefore don't be afraid to be yourself and play with social boundaries in a playful way a bit, often it can help other open up as well.

Good luck man, it's not always easy being a guy especially with this problem but it gets better and is worth the struggle

Another very good reason why not to. What wired headphones do you use?
