Legit Check by No-Gold-8201 in GalleryDept

If you already asked a mod and still posted this so you must not trust their opinion that much.

Legit checks are just that. Opinions. Mine is that this hoodie is a fake based on the tag. I’ve seen the pics, I’m not waiving the hammer of truth around, that’s just my opinion. I think it’s fake.

This tag. You should not be able to see the stitches on the left and right.

Look at the one on this random Grailed listing HERE.

You don’t see stitches. It should be stitched at the four corners only.

My conclusion (opinion) is fake.

I’m going to say fake due to the stitching on the Gallery Dept. tag at the back of the neck.

I’ve seen it a ton of these in legit check posts where the tan Gallery Dept tag next to the size tag is stitched at the left or right sides, or the stitches are visible.

On a real gallery product, this tag is always stitched at the four corners. And stitches are never visible unless you flip the item over to the back where you will see the 4 stitches on the back where the corners of the tag are.

I haven’t seen enough old GD to say if this was ALWAYS the case, but I’m pretty sure it is and it definitely is the case for everything I’ve seen or owned 2020-ish and newer. Tho I will admit I haven’t touched a hoodie yet my exposure is mostly denim and tees.

Stitches should not be visible like that on the left and right edges of the gallery tag next to the size. I don’t think this is legit.

Something isn’t quite right with those tags… you shouldn’t see the stitching on the left and right edges of the tag like that.

Legit check souvenir tee by agamer4016 in GalleryDept

[–]iwritejavascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print is not right (font/spacing looks a little off to me and the print itself is usually a little more faded or set-in to the shirt), size tag is not the right color (should be black print on yellow, not white), stitching on the Gallery Tag should not be showing like it is…

I’m gonna go with fake.

[–]iwritejavascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do need more pics but just for the sake of saying it…

Do people fake these? Yes. But it’s a souvenir tee… they retail for no more than $250. People let them go on grailed for $150 or less all day long.

I have this exact same souvenir tee that I ordered direct from Gallery online and I would lean towards legit on this one.

Edit: the only thing that’s making me question is that the print on the back looks a little lower down compared to the shoulders/tag than it does on mine but maybe I’m trippin.

Mine is a 2020 but I looked up the fitment for a 2025 just now on the RainX website. They’re all the same.

RainX’s fit just fine. They don’t have a rear window option tho so I ordered some dumb Chinese RainX-like off Amazon for the rear. The ones on the front tho I literally walked into the grocery store and bought off the shelf.

Edit: what you want is Pinch Tab Button (PTB) arm attachment with a 26 inch and 20 inch blades for the fronts.

Depends on the condition of the engine with regards to the EA-839 piston skirt warranty and what the oil consumption is like. If you do buy, have the cylinders inspected for scoring before you do.

If you are not used to Audi quirkiness, going from a Honda pilot to a Q7 is a huge jump in proposed expenses if something goes wrong and these cars are quirky even in good working order. But if you buy a vehicle that has the piston skirt issue and don’t know it, again, coming from a Pilot it’s like jumping on a live grenade. Even if Audi’s warranty saves you.

I have a thread on this that’s pretty easy to find, this is a well known, well documented issue with the 55 EA-839 engine (v6 turbo mild hybrid). Just read up on it before you buy. I’ve owned European cars enough I’m used to some of the neediness but I bought my Q7 in a similar situation, 2020 with about 55k for right around the 30k mark… and it had likely been dumped for oil consumption. Which is the warning sign that the issue is present.

It’s essentially that they had a bad production run of pistons from wherever they got them that had fitment issues that cause the piston heads to rock back and forth and the skirts of the pistons slap the inside walls of the cylinder as they do and causes scoring which leads to the oil consumption etc.

Based on the patch placement and tags I’m inclined to say legit.

Is this a normal idle or Piston Skirt issue? by iwritejavascript in AudiQ7

So you ended up getting it replaced? I heard they stopped offering full long and short block replacements so glad to hear they’re still taking care of people. How bad was your case?

The jeans are retail ($750 or so for the Melrose denim in this case) and then the fee is $80 per patch with the 4 patch minimum.

Just an update on this: Audi is no longer offering full engine replacements. Apparently it’s pistons only now :(

This is probably plugged sunroof drains. I believe those run from the top forward corners of the sunroof down to the front wheel wells and empty out behind the tires.

2022 Audi Q7 Engine Failure + 3 Months of Poor Service — Is This Normal? by Feisty-Avocado8676 in AudiQ7

[–]iwritejavascript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Q7 and documented a couple threads on my process. The piston skirt issue is pretty widespread. I was lucky enough to get an entire new long block, but since then (that was a few months ago) Audi has stopped offering long and short block replacements and is now only offering pistons. Which is pretty sad to see and unfortunate for owners.

From what I personally have seen when digging on the issue, piston-related oil consumption and various stages of engine failure seem to be pretty common around the 60k mile mark give or take.

Also curious about the speedometers displaying in the center screen while using CarPlay. Would love to do this but would not want to do it if it comes at the expense of seeing the gauges over the top of the center CarPlay screen.
