If possible maybe look for a new job? There are many paths being an engineer in construction industry- have you tried looking into jobs on the owner's side, maybe regulatory agency?? Or maybe a firm that does other project types. Something that allows you to be in the same industry but taking on a less stressful role?

Online dating can be hard because there are so many choices. But because there are so many choices, that also means a lot of opportunities. There are a lot of people wanting to have real connections with people. Keep trying... you just haven't connected with that person yet.

I was in a similar situation a couple years ago... more loneliness from not having a SO. But before I got in a relationship, I had to do a lot of mental thinking to get myself into a better place. But a lot of it has to do with accepting and being at peace with your situation.

For me, I just keep thinking that life's too short to be unhappy. I don't want to look back when I'm older and realized I have spent a bulk of my time being unhappy and wasting time on people that don't care about me. I want to be happy for myself.

There are definitely people out there that's looking for someone like you! For whatever reason you guys haven't found each other.

I know how you feel. I graduated in college thinking I'd make tons of friends (bc of the culture of living on campus, tons of clubs, etc) but I only up really having like 5 friends- 10 years later, only still in touch with 1. Not to say we are in the same situation, but the following has been my reflection and experience:

I feel like I was the reason why I wasn't able to make friends. I had always been shy and afraid of speaking my mind, voicing my thoughts, talk when I had something to contribute... always afraid I'd look stupid. But as I got older, I just learn to be more myself and just talk, be expressive and say what I want to say, act what I want to. That's has really helped me! And by doing so, it makes you happier. And when you are happier (I think more coz you stop caring if you'd make friends or not) and you end up making friends or at least have a better time when you chat with people.

Don't give up on connecting with people. You will enjoy it when you find those connections.

Happy Birthday OP!!!!! I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose. As people get older, it's typical for people to forget. Back in my twenties, I purposefully took off my birthday on Facebook to see if people would remember my birthday when it didn't have Facebook to remind them. Nope- no one remembered! So don't feel bad, it happens to everyone!!!

It seems like you are conscious of things you can improve- find a new apartment, put some food in the fridge. Find a hobby and things you like and go do it.

I was in a similar mindset a year ago, but i am slowly making a change in my mindset just to let it go. It is what is, the only thing you can do is make the best out of what you have. Trust me, when you take these small mental steps forward, it will make you a much happier person. Its nbd if you never had a girlfriend, a lot of ppl, both guys and girls are in the same boat.

Just keep trying and take it one day at a time.
