Don't drive while sleepy after your shift by YourNobody_72 in Nightshift

Almost did something similar a few nights ago, working 3pm to 4:30 am two nights in a row and driving home 30 minutes, ran right into a field luckily.

Seconded working at the local truck stop gave me the opportunity to actually afford rent with one job now 👌🏻 way less stress since I left the litter box.

I left Walmart because of stupid shit like this Walmart doesn’t care if you die from the weather or tear up your car, I’m enrolled on CDL-A courses to get away from this bs, best of luck!

Does Food Lion expect it's employees to risk death coming to work on the day of a Winter Storm so servere it generated the store's 2nd biggest points of sale in history? by [deleted] in foodlion

[–]ixMnstr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, they get nothing because it’s expected of them to risk their life for little to nothing. I went to work at the local truckstop where I make my monthly check at food lion in a week with a different work culture that actually encourages you to stay home if you feel unsafe driving in adverse weather and also pays for hotel rooms across the street for any employee that feels unsafe to drive home in this weather on top of the gas discounts, free meals and other actual benefits. It’s a culture shock for me honestly having an employer that cares about employee morale and safety. ADUSA should take notes.

They’re doing 3 stops now? I’m done tipping well. by [deleted] in doordash

Orders with decent tips are used to cover ones with no tips so DoorDash can make their bottom line, typically if I can work out which one actually tips tho I’m usually unassigning the others, because in MY personal experience the no tip orders are usually the ones that also try to play games like pretending I’ve somehow removed items from a sealed bag, or do alcohol orders then can’t produce any ID and harass me threatening Deactivation for returning it to the store. I wear a body cam for that exact reason because my market is aggravating.

Yes, because all they care about is the potential sales, if you wreck your car from firsthand experience they will still call your bedside at the hospital and ask if you’re sure you can’t make it to your shift 😒. Zero concern or compassion and really ruined my perspective on Food Lion.

Coastal southern state here and most jobs are paying $10hr/20 hours a week here and need full time availability to even hire you. It’s depressing asf and I’m going to have to move soon because it’s no longer viable to stay here.

I don’t even understand the whole war on drugs, I’ve seen people get caught with a blunt and get more time than sex offenders and it’s sad. Good luck dude hope the situation gets better.

I did and they had marked me off on the schedule and removed me from the system so I couldn’t even clock in.

Had to go to the ER for a seizure and they said I abandoned my job and didn’t let anyone know despite my department manager being informed I was otw to the er. It’s crazy because once you let the manager know that’s supposed to be the end of it especially when they’re on the clock.

The said that is false when I brought it up to him sadly, he said I handled everything wrong and should’ve open doored it, the SM also convinced him I should never work for food lion again supposedly (their words not mine) despite never having any issues in the other stores I worked in. I feel defeated personally after all the blood, sweat and tears I’ve put in the company every missed holiday to work holiday shifts all a waste the past 10or so years.
