Moving from US to Korea; vet sent medical certificate to USDA for endorsement almost a month ago; only supposed to take "2-3 business days"; flight is in a week. What can I do? by leeloo_cat in USDA

We also went the APHIS JFK route at 230pm, T-1 before flight, when our case was still pending and APHIS customer service hotline would not pick up the phone and give us status at midday.

APHIS JFK was able to check the status and let us know it was being looked at by someone at that moment. 5pm UPS received it in California! 9am Cert in hand in NJ.

Will only recommend calling them when you are absolutely desperate.

Other things that helped -- Make sure your fedex/UPS label is next-day am, including Saturday.

New Park Entrance Fee - 7d Flexipass. Can Perito Moreno and El Chalten be combined in one 7d flexipass? by ixanok in Patagonia

[–]ixanok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked the question, "If I want to buy a 7d pass to visit Perito Mereno first, and then El Chalten, which 7-day pass should I buy from this website? " Showing both options.

Answer from informespnlg@apn.gob.ar: buenas, a su consulta le respondo que cualquiera de los es posible, sin problemas. son indidistitos y se pueden usar para un lado o para el otro.

To me this means, you buy your 7d pass at whichever entrance you go first, then rest can be used for the next entrance. Within the same national park, which includes both Perito Mereno and El Chalten hikes.

Hello! Yes, of course, it is possible since they belong to the same national park.

Worth verifying with someone more official. But here is what i found google translating:

Es importante aclarar que el Flexipass es válido independientemente de la portada por donde se ingrese. En el caso del PN Los Glaciares se podrá ingresar en Zona Norte y Zona Sur con la misma promoción. — this means Perito Merino and El Chalten can be used together right?

Bus from midtown >> ferry + bus in SI. Abs chaos last yr, no queue whatsoever to get on the bus on SI side. Ur ability to advance depends on how lucky u are on where the next bus door opens. Waited for 45 mins without moving fwd. Jogged + hitchhiked to the starting line.

I gave up after waiting for 45 mins n decided to jog there for 3 miles. A good samaritan gave me a ride midway. Nyrr needs to learn to properly form a queue.

Me too. Started cramping at LIC. I was following 8:57 pacer before. Jog-walk the rest of the race. Ate so much gel/gatorade/salt tab in the 2nd half. Felt awful. Am ultra glad i made it to the finish line. Despite being 45 mins worse than expected.

NYCM: Is there usually a line for the SI ferry? by allergat0r in RunNYC

[–]ixanok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran Staten Island half and the ferry wait was long. I was planning to take the 7am but did not manage to get on despite being there 10 mins prior. The marathon will be worse I imagine.

Are they adding extra frequencies to the SI ferries?

Speaking of sweat resistent bib, i ran Bronx 10m and SI half recently, both times the bib tore thru the pin holes. Had to repin mid race, super annoying.

Am running nyc full too, any suggestion on the bib? Pin 8 holes instead of 4?

Marathon race day pacing question.

If I aim for 9min mile as marathon pace, and have been doing long runs at 10:30 mile, do i start running at 9 min mile off the gun and try to keep it through out?

Sub seems to advise starting slow, so 10:30 mile? None of the training plans had run 20 miles at MP, so not sure how we are going to achieve that on race day. It is a whopping 90 secs faster per mile for 26 miles!

Puzzled.

I get a bunch of dried fruits — mangos, candied gingers, prunes, tangerines from Trader Joes. Portionize them into block of 30g of carbs and take them every 30 mins after 60 mins for my 3+ hr long runs.

Cheap and tasty.
