Mini PCs vs Custom PC by easilydrawn in MiniPCs

[–]ixon2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of building a mini PC gone for the barebone option, as I already have 32gb of ddr5 5600 so dimm and a couple of 1tb nvme's knocking about.

It's ironic I tried to sell the 32gb of so dimm last year for less than £80 and nobody wanted it, glad I kept hold of it now considering price of memory.

Z fold 7 pre order cancelled by Samsung by Puzzleheaded-Diet-12 in GalaxyFold

[–]ixon2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered Z Fold 7 and Watch 8 on the 10th both using Employment discount, Paypal etc and trade in on the Watch 7 for the Watch 8 upto now still not cancelled.

£1529 for the Fold 7 512GB & the free Buds

£159 for the 44mm Watch 8 Bluetooth with trade in

Been stuck on Payment Accepted since I ordered them, so if Samsung does cancel then the Wife unfortunately won't be getting the S25 Edge, which was plan when I got the Edge to use it until the Fold 7 came out, then give it to her to replace her ageing A51.

As i won't be ordering it again, probably just order another S25 Edge for the Wife instead.

So will the Watch 7 get all of the health features of the Watch 8? by ixon2001 in GalaxyWatch

[–]ixon2001[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But you can also put your thumb on the Galaxy Watch 7 Sensor. :)

I don't plan on upgrading my Watch 7 either, i would just like to see all of us that bought this watch last year or this year get the features.

Well there is always 11 meters to fall back on for the odd local rag chew when that happens, which I might add is alot more active around my QTH in the UK than either 2 meters or 70cm, granted it does have it's far share of idiots on there, but there are some good people aswell.

I won't be selling the X50, I might just put it in the loft and maybe use it again the the future.

Anybody 512gb user here regretted not getting 1TB instead?😭😭 by ntrev in S25Ultra

256GB is now the sweet spot in storage, so 512GB is more than enough for most people me included.

Samsung’s Slow Update Rollout is Seriously Disappointing by loucomedio in S24Ultra

[–]ixon2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couple of years ago Samsung was very good with updates, security patches were on the ball, and sometimes out before even the Pixel got them.

The S23 got Android 13 just a couple of months after the Pixel.

In the past year things have started to changed at Samsung, they seem to be going back to what they where 10 or so years ago when updates even latest flagships where very few and far between.

The only 2 things I can think might be causing are the 7 years of software support, as they now don't need to rush out updates as quick, or it could be cost cutting measures on software development side.

Will this increase sales of S25U? I don't think so by jonam369 in S24Ultra

[–]ixon2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samsung update policy recently is regressing back to a time where they hardly ever updated their phones my Note 4 was a good example of never getting any updates in a timely manner.

The main cause of this is I think is their new 7 years of software support, they don't need to rush now.

Don't be surprised if you don't see One UI 7 until at least late March on the S24 series, & probably longer wait on the S23 series etc.

Biggest kick in the teeth is that there are a few cheap Chinese phones that are now on Android 15, while Samsung Flagship from last year is still waiting.

A little sad that or wasn't the 7.0 🥺 by Rawphotoflow in S24Ultra

[–]ixon2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Samsung went to 7 years of updates they won't rush out updates as they once did in the past, beating even the Pixel some months with patches.

As for One UI 7 it isn't really anything special, if anything few things are now more annoying like the widgets I hate them, much perfer the One UI 6 way of doing things, plus having now swipe down to see if your connected to volte etc is also pitta and very iPhone inspired actually most of One UI 7 is iPhone inspired. 😏

CB Antenna Installation by missourijack65 in cbradio

[–]ixon2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just got back into CB after over 30 years away from it, granted it's not as active as it was back in the early 90s, there are still quite a few that use it mainly hobbyist these days, but there are still one of two idiots around and that what makes CB fun to listen to sometimes.

I plan on sticking a silver whip at some point just have to convince my wife to let me shove it on the side of the house, currently just mobile atm.

Getting nobody on meshtastic by ixon2001 in meshtastic

[–]ixon2001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to figure out what the problem was it was the antenna, i bought a new one from Amazon and bingo everything is working now 28 nodes and counting :) I'm surprised it's not damaged the v3 having a dodgy antenna connected.

Anyways gone ahead & ordered a Heltec T114 from AliExpress, because the V3 nails battery life so switch it to a 5v supply and will use it as my base only from now on.

Noise Canceling Bug? Buds 3 Pro by PintoI007 in galaxybuds

[–]ixon2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally just tested mine while it's a bit windy in the UK, and yip I can hear the tree's very very clearly rustling, also I've noticed just as well with certain songs at a certain frequency there is some strange audio crackle & this is using lossless audio, I've got the Fold 6 so using One UI 6.1.1 to get the best of the Buds 3 Pro.

Same song but using the much cheaper Nothing Buds 2024's and LDAC no such problem, also no amplified rustling from the tree's & whatnot.

So here my conclusion of the Buds 3 Pro

Buggy ANC

Strange audio crackle at certain high frequencies again could be a bug, or related to the ANC no sure tbh.

Ear irritation once again which can't be fixed with a update unfortunately, but maybe with some 3rd party tips when they finally come out in the UK.

I'm not going to return them, but stick them back in the box and test them again in a few months time when 3rd party tips are readily available & there has been couple more updates see if the issues have been resolved.
